  1. I've jumped on the train also.I use them on a C-rig and also like to pitch them at docks, wood, and grass. They really are a fine bait.
  2. My most successful summertime baits over the past few years have been the following: 1)Topwater baits early and late. 2) Carolina-rigged lizards, Senkos, finese worms, and French Fries 3) Tubes pitched and flipped into and around wood cover, grass cover, and docks.PS=also creature baits 4)Jigs and trailers pitched and flipped into and around wood, grass, and docks. 5) Down sized (3/16) spinnerbaits. 6) Shallow and medium diving crankbaits in shad, bream, and crawfish patterns. 7) Deep diving crankbaits in shad, bream, and crawfish patterns.
  3. Yeah, it burns me up when 2 of 'em do it at the same time.I always pull up into the designated "get her ready" area and then 2 armchair boatmen whip in there and take forever to "get 'er done".I can have mine ready to launch in 2 minutes and be riding down the lake in about 2 more.Learn how to do it or fish off the bank.
  4. I use two.One is a Ford F-150 and the other is a Ford Explorer.
  5. That is a very GOOD question. One that I haven't had answered to my satisfaction. Also it's the reason I haven't gone under the knife yet.I get the ole "you'll be like this the rest of your life and will have to get used to it.The patches do make it managable, though.Degenerative Disc diesease is hereditary. My Grandmother,Father,Aunt, and Sister all have/had it.Basically, the discs are disintegrating and no medicine or surgery can stop it.With surgery,I'd be getting rid of one pain but creating another, according to my surgeon.
  6. I'd try night fishing under those conditions.
  7. Where I live at this time of year the best time is the earliest part of the morning IMO.Late afternoon and at night are also good times.I'm sure bass can be caught in the middle of the day,but with 99 degree heat and near 100% humidity I'm not sure I could make it throughout the whole day.
  8. I like to make a game plan of baits, techniques, locations, etc. and see how it goes.I also like to see how well I can improvise if all my planning goes bust.
  9. I am wearing some Oakleys(model forgotten). They really do a fine job of seeing underwater cover.I've used the $7 Strike King fishing specs and liked them also.
  10. I like T-rigging it,pegged and pitched into wood and grass cover.I've never given the wacky rig a proper chance.I wonder how it'd do on the end of a C-rig? It's already C-rig,deep diver, and pitchin' heavy cover time down here in MS.That usually doesn't really take over until late July. The temp here 2 days ago was 99 degrees. It already feels like August.
  11. I've owned all three of these brands at one time or another.I would rate a Minn-Kota as the best I've ever used with a Johnson/Evinrude a close second.
  12. I voted Yamaha because that's what I have. It's been very dependable and will haul bass.In my opinion, the Evinrude E-Tec is the best outboard motor on the market, though.
  13. Sometimes I get a little less enthusiastic than usual.I still love it,but if I go for 3 or 4 days in a row it starts to lose a little of its specialness. My cure is to take a few days,a week, once even 2 weeks off from it.I promise, you'll come back chomping at the bit.
  14. Your taking a step in the right direction with the c-rig.A c-rig with a green pumpkinseed 3x lizard saved my butt yesterday.Managed to catch five 2-2 1/2 pounders.I would vary my retrieve if I were you.I started out dragging and taking long pauses before dragging again.Nothing.I then started dragging, reeling in the slack, and immediately dragging again.I started getting bites and caught 5 good bass in about 1 1/2 hours.I look for cover on the structure with my DF.When I'm dragging through wood and/or grass,I feel like I'll catch some bass.Vary the colors of your plastics and vary your plastics.I favor lizards, but finese worms, senkos, french fries, tubes, creature baits, and plain ole plastic worms will also catch 'em.As LBH said,a jig and trailer is also a good bait to use,and don't forget slow rolling spinnerbaits and the use of deep diving crankbaits.
  15. I lost a phone to the bassin',deep depths also, but nothing as funny as yours.Take it easy buddy before you kill yourself!
  16. I know what you mean.I have degenerative disc disease in my back. I have 5 herniated discs in my back from it, and it just gets worse.I'm OK as long as I sit in my boat, but I love to pitch/flip and it really kills my back to stand up for any length of time.My doctor said he could do surgery but said it wouldn't help with the pain.I have to wear a pain patch on my arm just to get out of bed in the morning(usually around 2:30 AM from the pain).
  17. A lot of 7,8,and 9 pouders are caught down here, but the magic number is 10!
  18. Fish lakes that have a reputation for big bass and use big baits.
  19. Nothing goofy about that.I throw new lures in my front yard trying to get just the right action that will entice the neighbor's cat to bite.Landing and unhooking them can be hell, though.
  20. As has been already mentioned, try baits that are a little(or a lot) different than what you see everyone else using.Try fishing the lake when others are still in bed or out partying.I fish a lake that a lot of people use,but a lot of the others don't fare so well.I fish VERY early in the morning, late in the afternoon, and at night. Also,I fish some lures that are out of style and hardly anyone would think of using. The bass only see these baits from me and a few others that have been at that lake since being teenagers.Use your imagination when it comes to bait selection. In murky water,I want something the bass can see and that makes some noise.Dark and/or bright colors seem to work for me.
  21. I'm catch and release now,but for many years I fried 'em up and ate 'em.I've no problem with anyone eating their legal catch. As a matter of fact fisheries biologists say to keep the smaller bass, that it's healthy for the fishery. The reason I throw 'em back is they have evolved from food to an adversary and friend that I love and respect too much to kill. That may sound a little strange, but bassin' is nothing but sport for me.You catch and eat your catch and don't feel like you're doing something wrong because you're not.
  22. I voted neither.I wasn't offended,and it wasn't funny.I guess I thought it was really dumb.
  23. I know they say in the ad business sex sells, but the Gulp ad is so ridiculous that it's laughable. It sure didn't motivate me to go out and buy any.Fishing and naked guys? Come on.
  24. I couldn't fish like I need to with out a bow mounted foot controlled TM.
