I'd pitch/flip a tube/jig tight into heavy cover.I'd also downsize to a 3/16 spinnerbait and throw into that same heavy cover looking for a reaction bite.If I had some heavy grass I'd pitch a tube or creature bait into the mats with a 1 ounce weight ,trying to punch a hole through the mat to the bass below.

I consider myself a power fisherman,but I gotta admit that I really love a splitshot rig.It's my ace in the hole.I like using a 3x watermelonseed lizard on it.It's saved me from getting skunked more than a few times.

You'll probably clean the lake out with that old fashioned,out of fashion bait,a plain ole Texas rigged plastic worm.What colors?Red Shad,Grape shad;I used to catch more on a plain old purple or black worm.

Although I fish in Mississippi,the lakes that I fish are unusually clear(not Cali clear).I try to use the lightest line I can get by with(8,10,and at heaviest 12lb test).I also try to downsize my lures.Normally,the biggest spinnerbait I use is a 3/16.Many times,I'll use an H & H spinner which is essentially a crappie bait.

You've turned that boat into a real beauty.You just can't go to the local boat dealership and buy that kind of beauty.What kind of paint did you use,and will it work on a fiberglass boat?

Welcome back,Kana! Sounds like you really slew 'em in OK.

Wide base and deep sides as everyone has advised is the way to go.Add a good foot control TM and a medium portable outboard and you'll be fishing places the big boys don't dream of going!

I prefer the Largemouth bass,hands down!

I would contact the Game and Fish authorities and find a certified scale,quick!

If the water is glass smooth,I want to throw a very subtle bait such as an Original Rapala Floater and twitch it.If the bass are really aggressive ,I'll go with the Rogue floater and twitch,jerk,or rip depending on what they want.I like a little ripple especially when the sun comes up.Buzzbaits,Devil's Horse,and Torpedos are the ticket for me.I've never developed much confidence in a Pop-R or Spook type bait even though I can walk the dog as well as anyone.I just never gave either of those baits a fair chance.

Velvick has won tournaments out West,so he does know how to fish.I honestly think he is just a nice guy.As far as "West Coast" is going,I think it's all a big joke.So Velvick is no KVD.I don't know of anybody else out there who is.

That boat has a lot of possibilities.I just put in a casting deck on an old Terry bass boat.I used 3/4 " plywood,carpeted it,installed a plug in along the edge for the trolling motor.It was a pretty easy deal.My son and I did the whole thing in about 5 hours.

Honestly,it gives you a subscription to a pretty fair fishing magazine(Bassmaster).They'll also throw you a few bassin' goodies(hats,baits,Trilene XT line,stickers with the BASS logo,a BASS patch,etc.).I join mainly for the magazine.

I'm with ya on that.I like a black buzzbait with a splash of red in it.Some explosive strikes!

I think Bassin' is probably the best print magazine out there as far as "how to" articles.Bassmaster mag does go overboard with the tournament scene,but you'll still find 2 or 3 good info articles in it.

Tuscon,it'll only get easier and easier as you get more reps doing it.I agree about distance.I love baitcasters.The accuracy will come.You should've seen me the first day my paw-in-law "made" me use a baitcaster.About a million backlashes.But eventually it got easy.

By all means,get you a nice little 9.9 hp.Otherwise you'll spend all day getting there!
