  1. I'm not color blind....just getting old but I have to say that hi-vis line is showing up on a lot of my rods. For me it makes a difference especially when fishing soft plastics.
  2. My Terrova came with the remote and the peddle. There was no extra charge.
  3. I have a Millionaire I purchased when they first came out. I think it was in the mid 1970's. Other than lube I have done nothing to it in all these years. Its on a rod set up for musky and pike now and does not get as much use as it had but I know it will perform when needed. They are great reels.
  4. How were you ever able to land that! ? BTW nice fish!!
  5. Now I'm not as experienced as some of you guys. I've only been fishing for about 70 years. In those 70 years I have fished all over this country and Canada. It has been only in the past few years I've seen "pounds of drag" become an issue and I think it is more of a selling point than a real (or should I say reel) issue. I set the drag depending on line pondage and "add thumb pressure as needed". Its not real complicated. I have landed some huge fish on light line using my thumb, patience and experience. I really think this is a non-issue.
  6. Dan Shimano has mine now. Hopefully I'll have it back in two weeks.
  7. I have two trailers and both have Harbor Fright LED trailer lights. They have been on the trailer that gets used the most for about 10 years. I don't unplug them and they get dunked every time I launch the boat. Never had a problem. The second set is only 2 years old but again never a problem. BTW I looked at the LEDs from Cabela's and they look just like the ones I bought from Harbor Freight for half the price.
  8. I'd call Pflueger. Explain that it is new and they will probably send you the part.
  9. I considered that but figured Shimano was going to end up with it in the end. It is packed and ready to go. I just hope the turn around time is not excessive. The weather here is starting to break and I wanted to get out and play with my new toy.
  10. Picking out a backlash. It didn't work. I respooled and taped the line. Then I respooled over mono and it still didn't work. I called Shimano and I will be sending it in for them to look at. Guys thanks for all your help and advice.
  11. Thanks!! I'm on my way out to try it now.
  12. Fish Tank I will try that because a couple of times I thought the pool was turning and the line was slipping. Thanks I'm not that desperate ….yet!!
  13. I tried it tight with no backlash when it dropped and normal and still had backlash when I cast. I'm beginning to think it might be defective. I think I tried almost every possible combination and did not find the sweet spot. Thanks for your help guys. I will call Shimano tomorrow.
  14. I bought a Curado DC. I have been playing with this thing for 5 days and cannot get it to work. I've cleared more backlashes in the past 5 days than I have in the past 5 years. I followed the instructions regarding the spool tension adjustment. I have made adjustments according to the instructions and both tighter and looser than the instructions. It backlashes in 1, 2, 3 and 4 settings. If I lob it in #4 the spool usually but not always stops without an overrun (when adjusted according to the instructions). If I try an overhand cast or use my wrist it backlashes in any setting. I have yet to make a cast in 3, 2 or 1 w/o a major backlash. BTW it is spooled with braid. I cannot hear the noise it is supposed to make when casting but I have trouble hearing high frequencies. It may be there I just don't hear it. I'm even having trouble thumbing the spool. I have been using bait casters for 50 years but this one has me beat for now. Have any of you guys had a similar problem? How did you fix it? Has anyone received a bad reel from the factory? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
  15. I've been shopping for a DC on Ebay for a few weeks. I was able to buy one for $230. Ebay kept sending new listings for recently posted reels. The best price for any DC they sent me was $220. Had this guy been selling them on Ebay in the past few weeks for $200 I would have seen it and looked into it. I don't see how a guy could have sold 16 and NOT received feedback. A real deal like that would generate positive feedback.
  16. Thanks guys. I wouldn't buy anything like a reel from China. I'm just curious that some shops have lots them and wondered if they are actually Shimano or copies. . I did check Tackle Warehouse and FishUSA today and they are backordered. I will check the other sites you guys provided. BTW Thanks!!
  17. I looked at some of the better tackle sites and see this reel is sold out or on backorder. I checked EBay and there are a lot listed for sale. Many are "make offer". I also see some are coming from China. Are they counterfeiting these reels?
  18. Thanks guys! The instructions say I can epoxy it to the aluminum hull but I am concerned it will work. Maybe this week end I'll try it. I'll set it in place and put a shot bag over to hold it in place. I'll look into the TSS mount. My boat can just about make 30mph so it may work. HawkEye does say I can use the transducer in the aluminum hull but they seem to be the only folks who do. Thanks for the info.
  19. Hi I have a 17' War Eagle. I use a Hummingbird SI depth finder. At speed I loose the bottom. No matter how I adjust the transducer or move it I loose the bottom at about 10MPH. I decided to get a cheap depth finder and try that. I bought a HawkEye and installed it mounting the transducer as close to the centerline as I can. I still loose the bottom at speed. The HawkEye instructions say I can glue the transducer inside to the aluminum hull. I think my hull is .072 or .080 thick. Has anyone ever glued their transducer to their aluminum hull. Did it work? I wanted to ask before I glue it and screw it up.
  20. My favorite Susquehanna smallmouth lure. I never had a problem with them.
  21. Or if your drag is too tight. The drag is there to protect the line.
  22. If you can get under the deck I would install a piece of 1/2 or 3/4" plywood both under and on top of the deck to reinforce the area where you are going to mount the TM. I would use plywood at least double the width on the TM base. Then I would use one or two 2 x 6s to get high enough to get over hull. One other suggestion. You may want to use construction adhesive between the plywood and the deck for more strength.
  23. Thanks Goose52 !! Mine came with the solid foam seats. They kept your butt off the floor but that was it. I will try to rig a frame like yours and buy a canoe seat.
  24. Goose52 How did you rig the seat. I have a Sportspal and I have been sitting on the floor or kneeling. I was trying to figure out a way to rig a seat with a back.
  25. That's a double "ouch"!!
