  1. Eightydee, I looked but I don't have the schematic. Sorry.
  2. I have received lures purchased on eBay packed as Whitwolf showed. I have also received them with the hooks pined to the body with rubber bands. You could get some small diameter model airplane fuel line and cut the pieces to fit over the hook barbs. That might be the safest way.
  3. I just saw your reply. I'll look for the schematic tomorrow.
  4. I intend to stop there tomorrow but friends told me not to expect much. They were disappointed when they were there last month.
  5. I had one just like that. They are classics. I'd get a schematic and break it own just enough to so that I could get to all the parts to clean them. If I was going to fish with it then I would break it down to where I could clean it and lube it. You should be able to find the schematic on line. If you can't I may still have one I'd send you.
  6. Vent accepted. We've all been there.
  7. NO!! Its impossible......it has to be.
  8. I have a few baits like a Senko that I consider "go to" baits when nothing else works. The spinner bait is one of them. BTW not laughing.
  9. When I get a new bait I usually fish it until I catch something on it. I look at it as a challenge. I have even used the (drum roll please) Banjo Minnow and they work. Actually they work pretty good when fished like a fluke. BTW someone gave me the Banjo Minnows as a gift so I had to fish them.
  10. I've fished it many times. It is one of my favorite places. For LM this time of year I target grass and shallows in the back of bays and coves. I use many lures but mostly rubber and top water. For SM I target drop offs or rocky drops along the numerous islands. My favorite SM lure is a twister tail on a lead head jig. As J Franco said keep some wire handy when fishing expensive lures. The place is / was loaded with pike especially small pike with sharp teeth. I noticed your from Ontario. I always thought the Canadian side was way better fishing than the US side. I've only fished the US side for the past few years but if someone asked me to recommend which side to fish I'd recommend the Canadian side. Good luck!!
  11. It looks like the real "Glaucus" was looking after you. ?
  12. Agreed!! I use the yellow 5 of Diamonds, red & white and black & white. They are also great for Lakers in the spring when they are shallow and on down riggers in the summer when they go deep.
  13. I love Walmart! I walked into one a few weeks ago. They had a bunch of baits in a basket marked "Closeout" at $1.00 each. They had a few Kast Masters in the basket. They also had them on the rack at about $9.00 plus change. I go to check out at the sporting good counter and explain I found the Kast Masters in the closeout basket and explained that someone may have dropped them in the basket. I also took one off the rack for comparison. The ones from the basket came up at $1.00. The one from the rack came up at $9.00 and change. It was the exact same lure. I also got a Shakespeare bait casting rod for $4.60. For that price I could not leave there.
  14. If it were me my greatest concern would be bearings and tires as mentioned by others. On a few occasions when I made long trips with my boat and trailer I'd buy a few spare tires and rims at Walmart. I'd keep them bagged to keep them clean. If I got through the trip without any tire problems I'd return them to Walmart for a refund. There was one trip where I had to use my spare and both Walmart tires but they saved me a lot of aggravation. Good luck and have a safe trip.
  15. I crossed it Monday and it looked great. On the high side but clear for the Susquehanna. Then the rains came. Not good!!
  16. I have to go with the Senko guys if we're talking about LM in most bodies of water. I have some favorites for SM in certain bodies of water. In the St Lawrence my favorite is a twister tail on ball head jig. In the Susquehanna I do better most often with Rebel crawfish and Beetle Spins.
  17. Try fishing the flooded shoreline. Fish will move into the flooded areas during high water.
  18. I have used small canoes, a 12' and a 10'. I would not recommend them. The ones I used were unstable and you want a stable canoe for fishing. I have a 14' Sports Pal and a 16' Mad River now. The Sports Pal is fragile compared to the Mad River but it is a stable canoe and easy to drag around. The Mad River is a wider model and it is also stable. I had a Kevlar Old Town. It was a little heavy for me to get on the car roof and drag around but it was stable and a pleasure to fish out of and darn near indestructible. I'd recommend stability be the first thing you consider. You don't want to have to worry about flipping a canoe while fighting a fish especially a big fish or a fish in current.
  19. I have a Hummingbird 999 with the installed maps. I fish 3 small private lakes here in SE PA. The original map software in the unit does not depict the actual lakes. The maps are inaccurate and many times indicate I'm on land when I'm actually on the water. It doesn't hurt anything but it bugged me. I used my new Lake Master card the other day and to my surprise it depicts the actual lakes in detail except for contour lines. Now I have one less thing to complain about. ?
  20. I'd bet there are a lot of monster bass in those Ohio farm ponds. And they are fishable from the shore.
  21. Many years ago I read about a fishes ability to detect scent. Since that time I have been trying to keep my hands clean when handling bait and lures. It is not always possible but I try. I keep scent free soap in the bag and if I touch something like gas or sun screen I wash my hands. Does it help? I think so and it cannot hurt. Others have said that scent does not attract but it may cause a fish to hold on longer. I agree. I put it on hard baits occasionally but always on soft baits which I believe can absorb odor. BTW I need to warn you....Smelly Jelly does not go good with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. ? It stinks and is hard to wash off. Keep it out of the sun because it gets watery when warm. It is my favorite cover scent.
  22. Good luck with the hellgrammite fly. It should be a killer.
  23. Not a stupid question. I'll try different retrieves depending on different circumstances but most times I'll cast to cover and make gentle moves or pops. I want to keep the popper in the vicinity of the cover. My thinking is that the fish is holding to cover and I want to present an easy meal. I usually work each piece of cover and I favor shallow cluttered areas to fish poppers. If you get a hit hesitate a second or two before sitting the hook. If you set too quick you'll pull the hook out of the fishes mouth. BTW it is addicting.....all those top water hits!!
  24. I just bought some Nikkos. I haven't used them yet.
