Best sized spinnerbait for creek/river smallmouth?”
The little "Beatle Spin". A favorite of mine on the North Branch of the Susquehanna and many other small SM streams. It is especially good for fishing riffles. The three colors I keep stocked up with are yellow, black and white.

What is the best soft plastics for smallies.
On the SM waters I fish which include the Susquehanna and the St Lawrence the single best bait for me is the 3" Twister Tail and an appropriate weighted jig head. Next would be small crank baits and the Ned Rig. In the deeper water of the St Lawrence I use drop shot rigs with live bait (yea I said live bait) or rubber. One bait that worked great up there was the Fishbelly Hawg Shad but they seem to be out of production now and I'm down to my last 4 or 5 packs. I have stocked up on some goby imitations and will try them.

Silver Minnow trailer
I fish it naked and sometimes I use twister tails or what pork I have left. The Silver Minnow is one of my all time favorite lures here and in Canada. BTW I do like the idea of using spinner bait skirts on the lure and will try it.

Thousand Islands area
Kring is a great spot to fish. As I said many times we never left Goose Bay and fished from sunrise to sunset. We catch the occasional pike but LM and SM are common.

Thousand Islands area
Jut an FYI: Kring Point sits on a decent size bay. It is sheltered and a great place to kayak. I stay at Kring frequently and many days I do not leave the bay. If you do go to Cedar Point take a day and try Kring. Nice place.

An almost great day on the Willamette River
Forty-five bass and it was "almost a good day"?

Hydrofoils
I do not know all the pros or cons but I can offer this. I had one on my boat. It did help with the numbers. It went on plane faster and the top speed was slightly faster. I imagine with the increase with performance there was an increase in gas mileage. The down side was it interfered with the water intake and I was constantly getting an "overheat" light. I also fish a lot of areas with a lot of weed and it did pick up weeds. Since high performance was never a big issue with me I removed it. I have been tempted to reinstall it and try to change the water intake problems. If I could get it working I would use it on some big waters that I fish like Oneida and the St. Lawrence.

Can I Fish on the Canada side of St Lawrence?
Thanks sschrad. I was curious also. I stay in NY but prefer the Canadian side of the river. I know before the virus we were told we could fish the Canadian side with an Ontario license but we could not go ashore. I've been fishing up there for many years. It was a very friendly place but since 9/11 they have turned into the Gestapo.

Bear Encounters Pt. 2
Great story and thanks for sharing. I agree get a handgun or some bear spray. It will give you peace of mind and hopefully you'll never have to use it. There are big cats in FL and one could have migrated north. If you ever get in there again get photos of the tracks. A cat track is distinctive and maybe the game authorities in GA would like to know about it. BTW I'm happy catching chubs especially on flies.

Does Herbicide treatment mess with bass?
I treat a friend's pond in NE PA. The instructions on the treatment recommend doing the pond in stages because the dead weeds will deplete the oxygen in the water. The pond is only about 8 acres but I do it in four stages over a period of 4 weeks.

Aluminum Jon boat seat install
I have two and have been using them on my john boat for a long time and have not had a problem rather than movement. To prevent movement I ran all-thread through the bench seats from front to back after I lined it up with the lower inside corners of the clamp. I put a wing nut and washer on each end. If your seat has a lip you might not need all-thread. I would not use rivets or anything like a riv-nut on a boat seat because the aluminum is so light. The constant rocking, vibration and boaters weight bouncing around would tear up the aluminum quickly.

Super glue?
I use the same stuff and I am surprised how long it lasts. The bottle is well designed and protects the contents better than anything else I've tried. I have also bought the cheap 3 packs of super glue from Harbor freight. I can get a few days out of each tube. I think I paid a $1.00 for the last 3 pack.

Bear Encounters While Fishing
Like I said we had no idea why until we were leaving for home. In hindsight I think the game wardens did not want us or anyone else to know we were in the park. It was all kind of strange. BTW the three kids were the sons of soldiers stationed at the Petawawa Forces Base in Ontario. We drove past the base on the way home. It must have been very bad event for them losing three kids.

Bear Encounters While Fishing
All of my encounters with bears ended peacefully but bears can be very dangerous and should respected and not taken lightly. My neighbors have had problems with aggressive bears and the Game Commission trapped and relocated them. In 1978 we were bear hunting in Ontario. A game warden came into camp and spoke with our guide. The guide then informed us that we would be hunting in Algonquin Park for the next few days. He never provided an explanation. We made the long drive to the park and we hunted it for at least three days. There were stands and baits prepared. None of us saw a bear while hunting there. When were were leaving camp we learned that we were hunting a bear that had killed 3 kids in the park. The guide never told us why we were hunting in the park and we should have been told. This link mentions the 1978 incident: https://www.times-news.com/sports/local_sports/black-bears-kill/article_8a49bdd8-6cfa-51d1-b12f-c1c2a1cd539e.html#:~:text=The bear was killed.,in Algonquin Provincial Park%2C Ontario. He is cute!! ?

Bear Encounters While Fishing
We probably have more black bears in NE PA than any other area in the US. Most people up here consider them pets or pests depending on how much of your property they have damaged. This guy walked up to my neighbors door while I was sitting at his table. He is a local celebrity.

Favorite baits for creek smallmouths
The OP was about small creek small mouth so I didn't mention the Torpedo but I use the Torpedo on the Susquehanna for small mouth. It is productive at times.

Favorite baits for creek smallmouths
You been looking in my small creek bag? ? What you listed is mostly what I use. Ad a few Beatle Spins in yellow and white. I also use black and chartreuse but not as much.

Freshwater Eels
Or just use a rag to grab it. The rag method is a lot easier.? Here in SE PA they were very common and I caught many. Not so much in the past 15 or 20 years. I do use eels for salt water stripers and they are the go to bait for the Jersey shore. Now I'm wondering how they would work for bass.

What kind of primer for bare aluminum?
I used zinc chromate on two or three I did. I never had an issue. Prep is important. I forget how I prepped the boats but did as instructed on the can.

Keeping Z Man baits from sticking together?
I just physically checked all mine. I do not have either of the colors mentioned.

Keeping Z Man baits from sticking together?
Elkins mentioned color. Was a particular color involved with yours? BTW I am interested because I drag my Z Man stuff with me wherever I go and if there is something I need to do I want to do it.
-
Keeping Z Man baits from sticking together?
I am puzzled by your problem. I have 15 or 20 bags of Z Man baits and never had a problem. I do keep them separated by style and color and use the original bags to avoid any issues.

Close calls?
Okay! You got to tell us the whole story. ?
