  1. Thanks for the info. I was going to try them but I'm not interested in making Sebile rich at my expense.

Really? i always thought that Mepps were sturdier and longer lasting than rooster tails. You thought right! Mepps are a much better quality.
  3. Look at this site. It has a lot of good info and the guys would be happy to point you in the right direction. http://www.cookplex.com/pac/forum/index.php
  4. The guys up here who fish the non-tidal portion of the Delaware use an anchor that looks like a grappling hook. It works well in high, fast water.
  5. No, but you could run the bank manually and the I-Pilot would retrace the manual run.
  6. I replaced my bunks and rather than use carpet I painted the new wood and used the plastic glide-ons. Here is a link: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_52357_225010000_225000000_225010000_225-10-0
  7. I am not sure if this will help but make sure all your connections are tight. I was having a problem starting my gas motor. It would turn over but would not kick and everytime I turned the key the finder would turn off. It turned out to be a loose battery terminal bolt. I now tighten the wing nuts with a plier.
  8. Some are. Mine isn't. I have a friend who has too much money. A few years ago he bought the best boat alarm available. According to him it did everything but make dinner. The bad guys got him.....all his electronics and fishing gear and it was in front of his house and he never heard a thing. I have another friend who uses the horse shoe shaped bike locks. I think they call them Krypton locks. He inserts the u shaped part over the leaf spring (from behind the wheel) and into the holes on the wheel. It effectively locks the trailer wheel or wheels depending on how many you buy. It is a good idea. You cannot move the trailer.
  9. Here is a link to help you figure it out. http://www.minnkotamotors.com/what_gauge_wire_for_trolling_motor.aspx?__taxonomyid=977
  10. I thought you could use lighter wire if you used a higher voltage.
  11. Width is a big factor. Get the widest jon you can afford or better yet get a wife deep sided vee. The kids would be safer. I have friends who went with 10 & 12 jons. They were not stable. I have a 14' jon and it is OK but I only use it on ponds and the Susquehanna. I would not use it on big water.
  12. That's when I start that gas thingie on the back. Thats an option but I haven't figured out how to steer it from the front of my boat. I wonder if Bass Pro sells a 16' tiller extension?
  13. That's when I start that gas thingie on the back.
  14. I just ran my HB for the first time yesterday. It did the same exact thing for about the first minutes. I eventually started getting good readings when I reduced the sensitivity to one. BTW I want to make sure the depth it's indicating is correct now. On some spots where my Lowrance always indicated 11' the HB is indicating 9'. The water on this lake does not change so its time to get out the weight and rope and see which is correct.
  15. That would be great IF the GPS was accurate but in most instances it is not that accurate. The sonar or in this case the SI will pinpoint the acutal structure. A GPS can be off by many feet.
  16. The Rhino Lining would add weight and I doubt it is as tough as the fiberglass.
  17. You do need to keep the bow down especially in the wind. I use an electric motor on my canoe. I put the battery in the front of the canoe and I replaced the motor cord with a longer cord. Just use ten or twelve gage wire. As for the motor mount I have one made by SportsPal. There is always some on E-Bay. You could also check out the one LL Bean sells. BTW it would be easy to copy if you have the tools.
  18. Curious, what is your definition of "just barely enough? I have been using 24, 36 and 55 lb thrust electric motors on my 14 to 17' boats for the past 40 plus years in all kinds of water and never had a problem with power or maneuverability. Some guys are buying power they do not need and cannot use.
  19. Thanks ProCraft Joe. I got it! I downloaded it a second time but directly to the SD card rather than to the computer and then the card. Thanks Again Dog
  20. I have a 798. The HB website has 4 downloads listed for my unit. I downloaded them to my computer and was able to copy 3 of the 4 to an SD card. The HB website says I should receive instructions to complete the installation when I put the card in the unit. I put the card in and nothing happens. They also talk about a port to download information from the computer directly to the unit but I cannot find a port. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong or how to get the downloads into my finder?
  21. I usually fish the North Branch. For me, two very consistent lures on the Susquehanna have been the Rebel Crawfish and the Bettle Spin in white or yellow. I keep the Rebel on the bottom and the Bettle Spin near the top. Now I use a lot of different lures but these two seem to produce and if I have someone new to the river with me I'll rig him up with of the two. Good luck!
  22. Thanks Wayne I fish some small lakes in SE PA, the Del. River and the Jersey shore. I'll be using the maps mostly for finding my way around the back bays in Jersey. The Lowrance mapping is OK for what I use it for but I was wondering if the HB was better. If it has contours then I guess it is better. Thanks again!!
  23. How detailed is the base map in the HB 789? Are there updates for the map?
