Question Regarding A Transducer Cable Repair
That would probably cost more than a new unit. I'll pull it apart and resolder it. Then try it without the foil.

Question Regarding A Transducer Cable Repair
Guys I need some help with my depth finder. I have a Garmin 160 set up with the transducer mounted on the bow mount trolling motor. I caught the transducer cable in the bow mount and cut it in half. I tried to repair it by soldering the wires and covering the splices with heat shrink but now I only get a weak bottom reading to about four feet. I lose the bottom as it gets deeper but the depth still shows on the screen. The cable contains 4 wires in two pairs. Each pair is wrapped in a foil like material. A fifth bare wire is wrapped around the two pairs. I damaged some of the foil and replaced it with aluminum foil. I suspect this has something to do with my problem. Do I need this foil material? Is there any material I should use other than aluminum foil? Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Old canoe/boat
Make sure you buy somthing that will be safe on the waters you intend to fish. Don't buy something like a 10' john if you if you are going to fish big waters. Be patient and wait for the right boat. Good Luck!

trailer question??
Most have bunks and they can be adjusted for a John. You may have to change the bumper on the winch stand. A V bottom boat would require a different shaped bumper in most situations. Can you post photos? We would have a better idea what is involved if we could see the trailer.

Fishing Tackle Storage Project: Fishing Shelves
<With my wife griping about my 'excessive tackle boxes'> I think she is right......but that is a nice setup.

Trailer problem.......Sort of!!!!!!
Your winch strap should come off the top of the roller not the bottom. If you reverse it then it will pull the eye right over the roller.

Beetle Spin
BTW white "seems" to be the best color for me. Yellow would come in second.

Beetle Spin
They are a great little lure. I catch bass and pan fish on them. Most are small but I do catch some decent fish, especially smallmouth in rivers.

A-Jay how are the canoe seats holding up? I just purchased one from Cabela's but have not tried it yet. I was concerned about durabilty.

Need help with boat headlights
Be careful laying it on the seat. Some of them get very hot and can burn the material or cause a fire.

Need help with boat headlights
I have them on my boat for traveling small creeks while duck hunting. They light up the banks to the side and give me a reference. Their range is limited and they must be aimed based on the position of the boat. Mine are set up to put their beam on the water at slow speed. If I go too fast they lift off the water and are useless. They are also useless on big water. You would do better with a good handheld spot light.

URBAN FISHERMAN OUT THERE? Also-observations involving "City Limits"
Well it is the Schuylkill and there are dead bodies Come to think about it the only time they mention that river on the news is when they are pulling a body out.

can anyone identify this lure?
Yes it does.

Old Rapala Spoons
I still have 3 or 4. I also put rubber on the hook. It is a great lure. I bought them for pike fishing but use them often for bass.

Trolling Motor general knowledge needed ...
A 40 will use less amps than a 52 or bigger motor. I think MinnKota says that most motors correctly sized for your boat will not move a boat faster than 5 MPH.

How to fish Tidal Rivers....
Tides are the big role and how they affect selected structure. Raising or falling tides and the point in the flood or falling tide all come into play. Begin by looking at the flow of the tide as a current and then fish those areas as you would fish a river with a similar current. Then to complicate matters fish will react to the water level...is it raising or falling? Did it just start to fall or raise? Some day I'll figure it out.

Two shops gone in one month!
Cabela's and Bass Pro have a hugh selection compared to the smaller shops around SE PA but their prices are not better and when you factor in the gas they can get expensive.

US Reels
Nice fish!!
-
quantum reels
When you get to BPS compare some cheap reels with medium priced reels and then the expensive reels and you'll will "feel" the difference. The better reels have that quality feel and you'll be able to tell the difference.

Falls Lake NC
My son just bought a home near Falls Lake north of Raleigh. Where would I get some info on the lake and how is the fishing?

Thinking of buying....HELP ME
One other question. What is the beam on the boat? Some 14' boats are deeper and wider than others. The deeper / wider boat is heavier and can handle rougher water. It the beam is about 72" then it is the bigger boat. The narrower boats run 48 to 52 inches.
