X rap Shad rap from Rapala
from what i've read, it sounds like its just a rapala shad rap with the x rap colors. its fished like a crankbait and not a jerkbait

Is the Zoom Horny Toad a good jig trailer?
the horny toad and buzz frog are topwater baits. if you want a trailer, use a chunk or a double tail grub. thats what i use for trailers and they do just fine

flukes
it depends for me. if fish are shallow, i rig them weightless and twitch them back just below the water. if they are a little deeper, i put a split shot about 3 inches above the hook and jerk or drag it back. sometimes i carolina rig it with succes, but usually just the split shot rig. i use the smaller sizes for dropshot too

question about x rap
yeah i agree with rw. i like the trilene when using big plugs and the polamar when i'm dropshotting or small lures

Do you keep a journal of your fishing trips?
its not really a journal but i have a book that i keep track with. it has the day, weather, water temp, place, fish, and size. i've had it for 2 years and it has helped out a lot

question about x rap
i just don't tie the polamar knot enough. its pretty hard for me to get it over the whole lure, but i'll figure it out by fishing time.
-
question about x rap
i usaully tie the trilene knot or improved clinch knot. do you think i would be safe to tie those on there? i also use the polamar knot too
-
Beavers
i rig them texas and carolina usually. and sometimes even weightless, it just depends on the depth and the kind of day. i only use them this way, i have other trailers i use for jigs
-
question about x rap
today i got 3 x raps in size 8. i have 1 in size 10 already but i don't use it that much. i'm wondering what size everyone else uses. and is the rapala knot the best knot to tie for this lure? thanks

08, new lure or tactic
i am going to start using a lot of bigger baits but my main tactic i want to work on is jerkbaits and spinnerbaits. topwater is also a something i want to master. i want to start using a lot more swimbaits. i need to get better at carolina, texas, and dropshot rigs.

Do you use baitcast or spinning reels, and for what lures??
i'm the same way with everyone who has posted already. i have 2 casting rods and 2 spinning rods. on 1 of the spinning rods i have a dropshot rig set up, on the other one i have a wacky rig set up. i switch to carolina and texas rig sometimes. on the casting rods i have a topwater on one and a swimbait on the other. the way i look at it, spinning reels are for more finesse approaches like using senkos or dropshotting. they also hold lighter line so that is good for those situations. casting reels are for fast retrieve baits like swimbaits, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and all those. and they hold heavier line. so really its all just opinion but i like having the ability to switch

New Rapala X-Rap Subwalk
it seems like when you twitch the rod, the bait would come out of the water, but i'm going to get some and try it. i love to walk the dog

Dicks sporting goods.
i get some stuff from there that other places don't have. and they have a lot of stuff on sale at the one by me, so it has some of the good things about it. just not as much selection as i would like
