is the heavy pretty stiff?? i was thinkin about getting the 7'6" MH because i like a rod that isn't too stiff. let me know. thanks a lot guys. maybe i'll just get the heavy

so i'm getting one of the okuma swimbait rods but don't know what length and action to get... i was thinking either the 7'6" or 7'10" or 7'11". what size do you prefer and why?? the swimbaits i will be throwing will be: 6" daiwa dead or alive 7" slammer 6" 8" 10" lunker punkers 6" hudd triple trout BBZ shad Mattlures ultimate bluegill 1-2 oz soft swimbaits and maybe a BBZ-1 trout at the biggest ......and any other swimbaits you recommend my question is what action should i get? i usually buy my rods from retail stores but since nobody around here carries them, i have to get it online. i usually like a pretty soft tip and don't like rods that are too stiff. so i'm debating between a H or a MH. i think the MH is better for my style of fishing and the baits i'll be using, but any input will help.. thanks a lot guys. i've learned a ton from this site!!

has anybody ever used one of the daiwa dead or alive and what were your results?? i'm planning on getting the rainbow trout in the 6" version and i heard it is a good idea to put a feather hook on as the tain intsaed of the buzzbait tail. it seems like a good thing for clear water. just wondering if anybody has any input in that bait. thanks guys

so i'm getting the swimbait "itch" and i am gonna spend some money and get some bigger swimbaits. the biggest one i plan on throwing is the Spro BBZ-1 slow sink trout. it weighs 4 OZ and is pretty big so i need to get a big rod and reel. i'm just wondering what a good rod and reel set up is for swimbaits. i'm going to be throwing swimbaits smaller than that usually, but just thought i would ask what everybody else is using... thanks, tight lines

here in utah, some of the forage fish are chubs. they look a lot like that. brown back sometimes and it works pretty good to match the hatch with a hitch swimbait.

i ordered a perch tru tungsten and a natural shad spro. the spro got here today and i can't wait to use it on sunday. i went to a pond to see the action and its crazy. i got a blue black herring spro instead of my perch tru tungsten so i either have to sell it or send it back. i'm not sure what i'm going to do yet. but i'm in the same boat. only a few lakes have shad and most have perch so the tru tungsten is good for color, but the spro is a better bait i beleive. its a great bait and i loved the tru tungsten until i saw this spro one today. its so realistic its rediculous!

i have the 7'2" parabolic and i use everything with it. i like how the blank is very exposed and i would use with senkos for sure. i throw just about everything with mine ranging from swimbaits to 1/8th texas rig. i would use it with a senko if i was you. i don't beleive in all that stuff about certain baits for certain rods. there are different stiuations and different kinds of rods that are better. but if it gets the bait out there... its good enough for me

JUNEBUG!!!! i've tried about ten other colors with no results. the only other color that has cauhgt me fish was black with chartruese tail but i throw the junebug more than any other color

i was just wondering what size rod is best for flipping and pitching. i've been using a 7' rod and i don't know if you want a shorter one or longer one. what is the better idea?

all of those are good, but i can't wait to throw this thing on a bed and watch a pig smack it. this is the BEST bluegill imitating bait i've ever seen. and i've used bagleys, rapala, and storm. nothing compares to this.

i know i'm going to catch some fish on them at my favorite lake. they look just like the forage fish and i'll let you know how i do, when i do

i can tie the knot pretty good now. i just practiced a lot the yesterday and today. i went to try them out with a snap today and it didnt effect the action at all. i don't know what kind of snaps i was using but they were thick metal and hard to open. i will probably just end up tying the knot most of the time

a jointed rapala. J9 or J11

i throw a j9 and a j11 on baitcasting gear mostly. i was thinking of getting some snaps with no swivel and tying the improved clinch or trilene knot. i am going to try it and let you all knwo how i did

my favorite lure is probably the jointed rapala, but i hate tying the knot. i only get it right 1 out of 10 times and it takes a while. has anyone fished a rapala with a snap and does it make any difference?

hey jt, i was looking at that reel today but can't find it in a left handed version. i was thinking they have to make a left handed version because of how maany people reel left handed. do you know anything about it? do they not make a left hand reel? i can't find the summit either in a left handed version. its bugging me because i love pflueger reels and i want these in left handed version

i just started throwing them this year. the smallie beaver is what i throw the most and i catch some pretty good fish on it. i am going to start throwing the sweet beaver though. bigger baits bigger fish!

i say the x rap. i can get 3 x raps for the price of 1 pointer. the pointers are more natural realistic colors, but i like the x rap. the jackall squadminnow is a good jerkbait too. it has a really wide jerk and stops fast. i throw x raps the most though

dude i had a tournament in march where the main forage fish was bluegill. its a pretty clear lake too so i was using natural colors. i got teamed up with a guy that lives right by the lake and fishes it a ton. i was throwing a junebug lizard and got a limit in 20 minutes. he was throwing a brown beaver and only had 1 bite to my 15. there are no lizards in the lake or nearby. i just think a lizard is a great search bait and causes a lot of commotion in the water. i throw the 6" version and catch fish as big as the bait. just slow roll it on the bottom with a 1/8 or 1/16 weight. the yum zellamander is 7" but has a twin tail and is a great bait too. lizards are my favorite soft plastics by far
