  1. I also get the BAss times and FLW
  2. Well said, definately a disadv. in shallow water when fishin cover And the back of the boat doesn't really get to fish 180 degrees. You rarely catch fish you just ran over in 8' of water or less
  3. Great pitch SetNHooks You'll do well in a club It gets addictive (its the rush when you put one in the well) There are lots of threads that you should read as a nonboater that may give you a better idea of what to expect Biggest thing is respect your boater. I fished with a guy that didn't want me to flip fish into the boat b/c he didn't want to get his carpet dirty on the Ranger. I bit my lip! Have fun and good luck
  4. Which trail? CT outdoors? I've never fished above the Enfield dam, I've heard that is really good too. My buddy has a jet boat to navigate in Enfield.
  5. As a non boater in tourneys, I got second in the points in my rookie year. out of 8 tourneys I got 3rd twice. The rest were 4ths and 5ths. half the time I outfish the boater. I watch where they cast and vary my presentation. I downsize and fish slower than them. In my club the boaters compete with the non boaters---not exactly fair. They get the first cast to cover but there have been times where I caught bass they miss. If they go left, I go right. And halfway through the day they usually ask me if I have any suggestions on where to go next. Its kind of a team effort to figure out a pattern.

Agreed that BPS has better lures--That was their origional business The stores are the same way Cabelas has 8' of spinnerbaits and BPS has a whole isle. Prices are about the same though
  7. no Not enough time some of the pros do better when they don't too the weather or water temp is sometimes different setting up a different pattern It seems to me that fisherman don't reanalize the current conditions and scrap their prefish pattern Its tough to do mentally as long as you know the lakes cover and structure and seasonal pattern--just go for it
  8. I keep swiching and keep moving until the bass talk to me. If that doesn't work I slow down and saturate an area with some finesse I won't usually throw one bait more than 15 min if its not working, but I may go back to it later
  9. I also take pictures of rocky areas and points from a distance so I know exactly where they are in the spring You think you'll remember but when the lake is up it all looks the same When a lake shows itself, its awesome and it may never happen again. you can share the pics too
  10. Why are you asking? Do you want specific info? Which tourneys do you fish Tin? Wed night? club events? or a trail?
  11. Yup, 2 tourneys a year The Glastonbury cove and Portland cove If you don't care about your boat go north of Hartford for BIG smallies I also striper fish from shore at the mouth of the Hockanum river and Scantic river
  12. Bass like to spawn on and near stumps Bass like wood during Prespawn too Its also a good post spawn area Overall I'd say thats a good spot to try all year deep water cover is a special thing to have its like a gold mine
  13. Not worth $200 to me unless there was a tourney there and I was the only one who new about it chasescott has a thread on this--next page
  14. Good thing they don't reach 10' I'd never swim again
  15. I lose alot of money to pike and pickeral Can't fish for bass with a steel leader
  16. Nice bass over rated bait I caught a few fish on it but not enough for the time I put into it. Glad it works for you. In CT our bass are much more aggresive on beds soft pastics usually work on the first cast
  17. A DEP guy on Patchaug interviewed us on our day of fishing and what we thought of the program. Mansfield Hollow is the other lake that has a small fish problem. Its full of 11 inch bass (no exactly good in tourneys) Mansfield Hollow has had pike a long time and still the bass are short. The pike have reached 40". Point being the program isn't working. The lake is now titled Trophy Pike Lake. To my knowledge people don't keep small bass.
  18. Not sure if ours in Connecticut reproduce - I think they do
  19. Do any other states do this? I disagree with the program The purpose is to decrease the amount of under 12" bass so others can grow bigger. Its called a Big Bass Management Lake. What happens when the pike hit 40"? Do you think they eat only 10" bass? Do they think Pike don't eat the same food Bass eat? Sounds like introducing Pike is gonna backfire Whats your opinion?
