My First Tourney: Results
lol only problem with that is all internet aside im a little anti-social so to speak. I have real trouble communicating to people unless i know them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well no pressure meant but when you are ready, its a great place to learn. If you don't want to join a club yet, they will let you fish a tourney or two. Maybe even with no fee but you won't qualify for winnings. You can even choose who you want to fish with. Understand that bass fisherman will really go out of their way for the future of the sport. Good Luck.

My First Tourney: Results
Maxke01 You'd be suprized on how inconsistant many bass members are. I regret not joining a club earlier in life. A club is the best place to learn as a nonboater you get to fish with all the different members and you get to almost copy what they are doing to catch fish. Its not cheating--Make it a goal to fish a local club tourney this year. Its cheap and not real competitive. Let me know if you'd like more info or encouragement. Also if you are not catching fish, your boater will help you or give you the front of the boat

Do you have a favorite fishing memory or outing??
Here's a good one My best day ever ....because I had no idea how much smallmouth liked spring jerkbaits I thought I'd try a new technique last year. Jerkbaits--XRap I was new to smallmouth fishin....that is I never caught one on purpose So I went to a flat where I caught one before and chucked my bait... jerk, jerk, pause, SLAM one after another, then to a point...BANG 4 hours later I had to stop because my hand was broke 50 smallies up to 3.5 lbs Needless to say I have a whole box of jerkbaits now :'(

Fla. (Orlando) bass trip wanted March 5 and 6
My family and I are going to Fla on Vacation March 5 and 6 and I was wondering if any kind person out there was willing to take me on a bass trip. Maybe prefish with you for a tourney or something. This year I can't afford a guided trip like I usually do.I'll pay for gas, dinner, lunch, lures lost. This is a Wed. and Thurs. I'm willing to travel and hour from Disney. And If you ever come to CT, I'll take you out to some private well stocked lakes.

Anyones fish bedding or yet?
I'm not against bed fishing if you let the fish go quickly before the bluegills invade the bed. But putting one in the livewell is questionable ---you can kiss that batch goodbye in 5 min. If we scheduled our tourneys to miss the spawn there would be another club taking that day and killing eggs. Catch 22 Studies have shown that enough beds survive to sustain a population. We've been fishing beds for years and still we continue to catch bass all year every year.

Frogg Toggs Rain Ware?
I've had mine 3 yrs-never got wet Worth the money! Get the bibs because the pants droop and the jacket rides up when you bend over to pick up fish Negatives are they can rip easy if you catch them on a branch or something sharp and too much sitting makes the butt wear out and pill but i still recommend them Good luck

Non-boater as a Fishing Partner
Sam does a good job here with fair rules I am a non boater in a BASS affiliated club and for me I offer to pay the $20 entry fee, help unload and park trailer, keep communication open, be respectful of their virgin water ( not cast past a 45 degree angle toward the front) I tend to keep my mouth shut about where we fish unless asked if I have suggestions We speak the night before so I know what kind of pattern they tend to fish--so I can prerig my rods. I do not clutter the back deck so when we run and gun it doesn't take 5 min to put away my stuff I net their fish and they net mine Basically we all bass fish and have respect for each other and there are no problems Although its not my fault I usually outfish the boater

Need Help with New England fishing spots
How about joining a Bass Club? At first you could fish as a nonboater. You will learn the local lakes, the spots and the lures and colors that work there. Tournaments are also a good place to make new friends that share info about non local lakes too. You can also fish other open tourneys as a non boater to learn different lakes. All this will help you save time when you fish on your boat. To find a club, go to the BASS site and find phone numbers of the presidents. The big lakes that I like and are easy to locate fish are Candlewood, Winnepasake and Champlain.

Chum for Bass?
Has anyone ever used chum to attract baitfish for bass fishing? Is it legal for bass--they use it for catfishing someone makes a freshwater chum pellet that attaches to your line People also use lights at night to attract plankton that draw in baitfish I assume its illegal in tourneys though
