  1. I think you'd enjoy fishing with our gang. In our world, it's US against them (the fish) not the other guy.....We'd rather have an adventure than a competition,.....We'll make a plan this summer Sonuds good! There are five of us that get together every year and head to Cobbosseecontee Lake in ME for three days and some of the best smallie fishing I've ever done. This year I think the dates are 6-8-08 to 6-11-08. We used to stay at Lakeside Motel but last year I found a great place called Yukon cottages. Huge houses with wood burning stoves or fireplaces right on the water with your own dock. It's like $125 per night split between 5 guys you can't beat $75 a piece for the trip compared to a tiny room or a one room cottage for that same price. On our first night there we returned from fishing, walked in the door and the owners had come by and had the wood stove already burning. Extremely nice hosts! If ever your down that way don't pass up Yukon cottages
  2. This is why I enjoy taking out the newbies. It's taught me to always be aware of the guy or gal in the back. It wouldn't be much fun for them if I'm banging fish all day while they're twiddling their thumbs,it's all about them and the long lasting memories of that day. Ther's not much more satisfaction then making a suggestion to a newbie like take this lure and cast it right there and getting to see unbriddled jubilation as they set the hook! The two friends I speak of are the only boats I've fished from the back of, other then a few other occassions when I was asked to fill in as a partner for two other members of their club who at the time were in last and next to last place. Both times we whoopped-em for 1st place and lunker. One of which we came in with over 20+lbs and the next closest were these two friends I speak of w/9lbs. Then the chater started about not allowing outside members to be a stand in! ;D Both are very stuck in thier ways with out room for experimentation. I will make suggestions if the pattern they chose isn't producing yet they can't bring themselves to think out of the box or try different locations, patterns and or depths. You would think they would not be so hard to convince considering I've got more lunkers then both combined. I think compromise is the word here and I'm not sure either one knows the definition! ;D They are both very good friends but not as fishing partners, yet they do well when teamed up with one another, just not with me. We now are all members of a new club, hopefully I will shine enabling them see the light.
  3. I'm guessing the water colour here would be that of goose poop? :-/
  4. The dew evaporating off the evergreens on a warm spring morn and the smoking ambers of the campfire from the night before.
  5. If I'm fishing heavy rock areas or pitching to brush I'll check the line for burs or cuts by running it through my fingers after each retrieve and clip it above those points and re-tie throughout the day as well as respooling after that outing. When fishing open water or weeds I just keep an eye on it and run it through my fingers as I feel it neccesary. The last thing I want is to cast a $15 or $20 Lucky Craft and or set the hook on a fish in a tourny and lose it due to frayed line, when a one minute re-tie could have put another fish in the live-well and saved a lure. I'm a bit anal when it comes to cutting and re-tieing due past outings and history having a tendency to repeat itself > ;)
  6. I want to start doing the reel maintenance myself and possibly get into repairing. The maintenance task for now is my main priority. Could someone recommend an up to date step-by-step book, video or website? I own a Curado 200, Shimano Chonarch 100B, Shimano Stradic, Diawa Zillion and two AG Revo SX's. I thought the reels used to come with directions on how to maintain them yet there's nothing in any of my boxes other then the parts list and warranties. I want to learn both BC and Spinning. Any advice would be greately appreciated!
  7. Thanks a bunch Russ, your the best!

  9. Hey Russ, my issue is why tease me a delivery date of the 3rd and it's in PA then change the date to the 6th and send it back cross country from PA to CA? I would have diven to PA and picked it up ;D
  10. I'm not fimilar w/the Curado 100 but the 200 wasn't efficient for the light stuff. I switched to the AG Revo sx and now throw Senko's weightless worms for miles w/o backlash issues fell in love and now purchacing another. This is coming from a long time Shimano fan and user. Nothing says you can't buy one of your choice try it out for a few days and if it doesn't suite your needs return it and try another. I know someone that does this all the time to avoid being stuck with a reel that doesn't suite the application

Ok here I am all worked up and excited tracking my H2 from kistler that they replaced. I was thrilled to know it left Texas, then to PA and was due to arrive here in RI on the 3rd of March. WAHOOOOOOOOO! I just got todays Tracking e-mail................................ It's Now in CA? WTH!!!!!!!!!!!! Won't be here until the the 6th! Why the heck would it go a few states and 4 days away back cross country and a week away? > :-/ :'(
  12. For that price look into the StCroix premier models. Anywhere from $80 and up. For that price a decent rod.
  13. Here's a link that may help you with setting it up for the first time. I also use the arbor knot. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1203132953/6#6
  14. Unfortunatley I don't I'm fishing with bestnetmanaround. Wish I could be of more help? Wait, I do have another boat..... 12' jon w/55# MinnKota, aeraited cooler and comfy Tracker seats. If anyone needs it they're welcome to it. I might even be able to deliver it to the pond as well.l I just have to see if it fits in the bed while trailering the Tracker I might be able to thow it on the racks if it doesn't. If something falls through with my partner I'll be sure to let you know.
  15. PM recieved and replied to. Thanks again Russ Shout out to those of you traveling a great distance. If anyone at all needs a roof over thier head I have plenty of room and my roof is your roof Though, I may not be getting much sleep the night before due to the excitement of the 1st T of the year, I promise not to wake you with my pacing! ;D
  16. Hey guys what's the deadline for the app's? Thanks
  17. Just started throwing the #12 last year and have had good results. Even bass smaller then 1lb,but most of the time much heavier then that. Palomar or loop knot for me.
  18. One can only dream!!!! Are these teams or singles, 5 or 10 fish limits? Most are 5 fish and we have a few that are 7. Most of the local tourney I fish are team 5 fish and you need at least 20+ to get in the money. That would almost make it worth dodging the earthquakes ;D
  19. One can only dream!!!! Are these teams or singles, 5 or 10 fish limits?
  20. Generally I'll pre-fish a 3 to 4 weeks before and then again sometime during the week of the T, especially if it has rained alot or a cold front has moved in.
  21. Not at all! No apology needed And yes very stubborn friends :
  22. I just sent back my Kislter H2 on the 21st which borke three eyelets down when setting the hook. This was on what I thought to be a monster river LM......nope just a huge floating log. Just recieved an email telling me in my new H2 has just left Texas!!!!!!!! Kudos to Kistler for backing thier products and responding so quickly! It's due here on the 3rd and can't wait! Just wanted to share my enthusiasm
  23. Thanks Tin, but the question should be directed at you and when are you taking me? ;D
  24. A lot of good advice and very much appreciated! Though, it seems I should find some new friends ;D They're not worrying whether I have an opportunity to cast or setting the boat up so we both have more then one option. I spent one tourny having to fish 4" of water hours on end becuase of the way he positioned the boat. There have been many, many times where my jig is just hitting the water and low and behold the trolling motor gets kicked on high dragging me out of structure and or the stike zone. Two of these life long friends would rather hide in a protected area out of the wind w/o production being a factor just as long as it's out of the wind. Where as I consider the wind my friend under most circumstances. These guys are also pounding the shoreline doing circles around the lake. Where then again I like fishing deeper water, drop offs and structure. When the shoe is on the other foot and I'm at the helm, I'm sure to postition the boat to benifit both and prior to engaging the trolling motor I try to make sure my passanger is at the end of his retrieve. I learned to do this because I spend a good amount of time teaching newbies and converting live bait fisherman over to artificial. I guess I need to try fishing in the back w/some different people to get over my lack of confidence when fishing out of the back of the boat. Thanks once again for all the input!

For the most part I think BPS is more geared to the fisherman while Cabelas is more geared to the hunter. I shop from both. X 2
