Best Wood and where to get it?
I've been tinkering with a top water plug that was very successful last season. I was using pine dowels from cheapo depot yet, Poplar seems to be the better choice. I'm wondering where I can purchase it. Thanks in advance for your help.

Small RI & MA fishing club Forming
We're starting to organize a small fishing club for next year, most likely trolling motors only and 15' boats and under, T's will be held in MA & RI. Number of members will be limited to 10. 7 T's, one a month starting in April and running through October. There are 4 of us as it stands now, We'll be taking a vote on teams, singles or both, as well as entry fee's and bodies of water, majority descision rules. These will all be club T's and will not be opens. Thanks, Paul

Beach Pond OPEN Voluntown CT
Just wanted to add that there is a 13 vehicle limit on parking, and a first come first serve basis. I'm not really worried about exceeding the vehicle limit because there are only 2 boats interested so far. I'll also be holding another night T on Bowdish this year, and a day T on the Agawam later in the Fall.

Hawg Plucker does it again!
Thanks Guys and Gal. ;D I've only had the opportuntiy to get 3 or4 times since then, and it's kiling me. hookset on 3, this is the second fish 8lbs or better out of RI waters. I got blessed last year as well in November with an 8.2lb LM. I gues there's a possablity it's the same fish because she was caught not 20 yards from where I got the 8.2 last year. Outings like this go by waaaaaaaaay to fast!

Hawg Plucker does it again!
Hit the water about 5 pm Saturday night. My buddy Matt is a pretty funny guy, so around 6pm when Matt yells " We're on fire' I just laugh and shrug it off. That is until I turn around to see him disappearing in a cloud of smoke :-/ We dealt with the fire and continued on with just one trolling motor. @ 11:55 PM I get CRUSHED on the Hawg Plucker and find this at the end of the line There's something special about catching fish on your own lure design, especially when it's an 8LB slob! A few others caught that night on the Hawg Plucker. The Hawg Plucker.... 8-)

Best natural looking baits...
As much as I love the look of the Koppers, I wish the fish felt the same. I'm not a huge crank or Jerk bait fisherman but thought the Koppers would change that, not so. I've thrown them consistantly for the past 3 months with only the Shad producing a few. I own both Smelt patterns, 2 Bluegills, and 2 Shads. I've caught more fish on the Xrap in light perch than all of the Koppers combined. I'll be giving the Koppers Bluegill another shot now that LM & SM have moved up and protecting beds. I would second the Hudd-Bug being the most realistic craw on the market, and it does produce but I used to rig it on a Pro Spot remover which seemed to make a huge difference, though the claws could be a bit more durable IMO. Over the past two years I've loaded the boat with the Crazy Legs Chigger on the Pro spot, as well as a jig trailer, flipping/pitching it, and crawling it with a Tungsten bullet weight and ticker. With that said, I don't beleive a lure has to be the ideal "match the hatch" for Bass, as much as it does for trout or Salmon. 99% of all bass strikes are reaction strikes, and they will pretty much hit anything dropped in their face. Bass are opportunistic preditors and will feed on what is available at the moment. I just discovered Xcite Baits Raptor Tail Claw,( Stands up in the defensive posture) and on our first outing matched with the 3/8oz HP Dirty Jig we boated over 35 fish both SM and LM. Two 4's boated and two 4's lost at the boat. I just can't say enough good things about these two lures! The HP/Raptor Tail combo didn't boat the most fish, but it did boat the largest fish. The Charlie Brewer's 3" Bass/Walleye/Striper Grub boated the numbers. http://www.xcitebaits.com/ http://www.dirtyjigstackle.com/ http://www.fishstanley.com/sidewinder.html http://www.fishingworld.com/slider/Details.tmpl?ID=95687067348579&Cart=1274265728635997813&SKU=SBG3 Here in the Northeast the bass are moving up on beds, and my line up this time of year goes something like this; Dirty Jigs HP flipping jig(IMO...one of the best jigs ever made 8-)) Matched w/the Raptor Claw. The jig itself Stands up in the defensive posture and the Raptor claw just inhances things and offers a larger profile. Crazy legs chigger Chartreuse tube or 3" Charlie Brewers Bass grub in Chartreuse (or the Pearl series or Baby Bass, dyed Chartreuse) for bedding bass. Stand up Shaky head.......Also just discovered the Stanley Sidewinder on a stand up like Chompers. I stopped using Senko's years ago due to the damage it can do if ingested, in addition to the amount of bass that end up gut hooked. Just my personal choice, and especially durring bedding season.
