  1. OK guys, four pages is enough. Unless you can offer new advice to the original poster, move on.

For $80, you aren't going to find a nicer gun. Gotta dig up the coupons!!!
  3. I always think In terms of best five. I weigh them if I can.
  4. Any 7' medium power/fast spinning rod in your price range will match up nicely with that reel.
  5. I got tapped for over $6000 in fraudulent charges. It took 30 days, but I got it all back, though. Apparently there was a "security leak" in the banks systems. I translate that to, "We're sorry, one of our trusted employees sold your card number to a thief."

I was being facetious. Whenever the subjects like this come up, someone has to be the one to remind everyone about teaching gun safety. The intention of the post was to share a fun activity parents can do with their kids for not too much $$$. Careful though, you'll shoot your eye out.

No one teaches irresponsibility anymore, LOL.
  8. There were a lot things done wrong that day. Changed the security model forever.
  9. You wouldn't have qualified if you weren't ready. Rarely do guys advance because of "dumb luck." meaning, you got the skillz, so do it.
  10. Yes, there is a weigh master and witness. The biggest fish weighed in each hour wins the bonus. You can also do what college BASS is doing - weighing in fish in tanks instead of a basket. Takes more work though. Your best bet is to take a look at the Sure Life site on the left, and educate the whole club on fish handling.
  11. Give out slips for hourly lunker bonuses, and you can turn in slips instead of fish at the end of the day. We call them "Dash for Cash" tournaments up here. The downside is you have to run back to weigh in an hourly lunker.
  12. $40 for an All Star Select when on sale at DSG would be a FAR BETTER rod than an Ugly Stik.

  14. I caught a lot of fish on my Ugly Stik. Had it from when I was around 13 or 14 until my late teens. Served me well. The Ugly Stiks I've picked up in the store feel just like rod I had so long ago. Amazing how advanced other companies' tackle is compared to it after 25 years.
  15. If you have the means, then go. I would line up some practice time, though. To me, a long weekend the month before would be the most useful, if I can't fish up to the tournament date.
  16. Here's the thing, if they don't charge, people are going to park in their yards anyway.
  17. That was Guntersville.
  18. Abu handles definitely won't fit Shimano.
  19. They're OK. I've seen some that flex and weaken. Ghoti's plan is one I follow.
  20. Last 20, better, lightweight, sensitive rod blanks. Last 10, internet forums, like BassResource.com. Last 5, DI/SI.

Yeah, this is not a toy, 1200 fps, LOL. My dad and I had as much fun he did. IF you fill up a soda can with water, the hits are more dramatic.

Picked up a "Remington" Black Magic, which is actually a locally made Crosman Phantom. Really nice gun, for the money. The spring pump took some breaking in, and I think I'm going to lighten the trigger pull, but it was easy to site in, and the scope was no problem to dial in. I will say, it has some recoil for an air rifle, but Al thinks that's cool.
  23. Nice bass, and nice legs, LOL.
  24. Walleye fishing on Oneida this past Saturday:
