  1. They are murder this time of year. Feels like a machine gun - sort of a "drive by" bite. They will also move your bait six feet or more. You have to set the hook, though. Some days, the largemouth bite like that.
  2. Definitely better than nothing. When I clean a reel, it is COMPLETELY dismantled:

  4. I still say a 5 lb. bass is the best trailer.
  5. Sunnies or blue gills were messing with it.
  6. I don't know about the diesel, but mine gets 20 mpg, 15-17 towing.

  8. It probably won't harm your reel. I like Cal's light grease (purple), Shimano Permalub, and some others. Reel Butter and Hot Sauce are right out, though.
  9. Kueka is a great fishery. I've seen some HUGE bass come out of that lake. Congrats on a new PB!
  10. http://www.laoutdoorwriters.com/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=raz4WbMqdQY=&tabid=87 .1 oz. (1.6 oz.) off the record. Too bad it went on ice.
  11. Most of us use 25# CXX. You tie on a $100+ bait, you aren't using some flimsy line that could break off on a cast. I can spool my Calcutta 200B with a 4 oz. bait.
  12. That thing is sweet. Surprised you didn't go GMC. Same difference on the upper trim packages, though. I test drove one like it, you're going to dig the torque when towing. 700+ foot-pounds at basically idle revs. I have a 1/2 ton Sierra, with the big motor, Z71. Mine is 2010, already put 30K miles on it, no troubles. What you have might be my next truck.
  13. Here's a real fishing show: http://www.lunkerville.com/
  14. Seems like more work to fake it, LMAO. Just go catch a fish!
  15. LOL, what do you think?
  16. It was 82° at 7 AM this morning. It felt chilly.
  17. Thanks Tom, I said it before, but you're welcome to a steel head trip any time. I can show you jumps and shakes like no other! Only thing, they aren't bass.
  18. That video shows a MASTER at work. Most of us are catching fish less than 10 lbs. I think if you are having a consistent problem of landing fish in the teens, then you don't have any problem at all.
  19. Linear? For smallies? News to me. I guess they could be in there.
  20. Have you looked in the Genny? Plenty of smallies there.
  21. You PERFECTLY described that small window of opportunity I described above. BTW, this works with other species of "head shakers."
  22. Heat Index.....actual temp a few minutes ago:
  23. OK, two hours, assuming flat seas, and no boat traffic. Unless you have to stop and gas up frequently. If you get 3 mpg (that's generous), you need about 31 gallons of gas, not including any reserve. And is that 46 nautical miles or 46 miles as the crow flies? I don't think you're considering all the variables. Find a place to buy gas on the lake (I've actually done this for a tournament, and yes I did well, 2nd place), or figure out how to more than double your capacity. Good luck with the tournament.
  24. Those short, whippy, pistol grips are fishing couture in Japan right now.
  25. Cardiff 300 is a PERFECT reel for swimbaiting.
