Used to have Progressive. Had someone run me into a curb a couple years ago. An adjuster was out at my house in a few hours, made some calls, said to drop it off at MY SHOP the next morning, and he'd have a rental waiting. Ended up with everything fixed, and $65 in my pocket. That said, I just rolled all my vehicle and property insurance into my homeowners policy. Much easier. A little cheaper. I think its Traveler's Ins.

The spool release is departure from Daiwa's usual setup they've been using for years. It really looks like a Shimano, from the yoke posts down to the clutch trip. Single drag pad says to me its not for light lines. Corrosion resistant internals as well, which adds up to inshore saltwater duty. Yeah, looks like a "Bob" but probably more intended for heavy baits.

The the two parts I listed are the spool bearings. They get oil. You can lube the other two with oil, but the reel cranks smoother if packed with grease.

I'm positive they're talking about grease, not oil. Shimano Permalub, cut with a few drops of Bantam Oil is great for sub freezing grease on gears, and crank/handle/pinion support bearings. Any light reel oil like Bantam, Reel Mech., Daiwa, etc. works fine for spool bearings.

I can't think of any Curados that have a bearing on the spool shaft itself. I'd have to go and check the other schematics to verify that, though.

You can put 6# on any baitcaster. I have a TD-X (thanks Bronzefly ) spooled up with 6# Siege for trout. Its how well they'll cast very light baits where the differences lie. A few good reels have already been mentioned.

Getting a scale is terrible advice. Lying is so much better. I bought a scale, and it ruined a great run of trophy catches.

No way! Well, it had better be a collaboration at this point because my "Fish Sticks" were almost done! Are yours a Chartreuse and White candy cane swirl pattern too? ;D There was a ton of "chatter" about these on another board over the past month or two. It was quite comical, but it certainly helped spread their name there and inevitably sold them some rods! Naw man, my gimmick is they smell like rotting fish. They will have a gaff hook on the butt end, no net needed for your trophies! Actually, that "internet chatter" is the part that rankles me. Come out with a new line of rods, put a website up, and have ten of your buddies post up about it. I realize its the "new paradigm" in advertising, but its based on nothing but hype.

Honestly, I'd like them better as a clock. Too clunky looking on the wrist, but on your desk in the den... 8-)

My buddy's old Gambler has a similar layout. He put a deck extensions in, and added RodSaver straps to store rods right on top of the port side rod locker.

Nice crotch shot videos. Watches are ugly, but I don't wear a watch. They are really interestingly constructed. I'd expect a little more than a camera phone video, though, LOL.

While they were before my time, this is the type of equipment that I started out with. I then graduated to a Zebco 202 with a ugly light green 5'6" fiberglass rod. I think it was my first combo. Bait/lure of the day was live worms, Rapalas, and DareDevils. We're pretty close in age, and that's a very similar progression as mine. God, I hated that stupid knuckle buster with the braided line. The sleek silver appeal of the old "33" performed as well as it looked. I remember actually having a hell of a time learning to reel my first spinner with my left hand. Ended up stealing my Dad's special order Mitchell lefty. Eventually I figured it out. I know we had a few of the metal handle/fiberglass rods at the time, but I'm pretty sure mine was wrapped bamboo. I could be wrong.
