Honestly, it's not a bad deal when you've got retired age passengers, people with mobility issues, or kids that want to try fishing. Adults in the middle (18-60) with no mobility issues seem to be able to adapt to fishing boat conditions well. When they're bored of fishing, there are plenty of other boating activities to do on your floating living room.

I mean, seven years later... You better check your local regulations for housing native fish. You often need permits. Same as it was in 2013.

I think you need to broaden your understanding of criticism. It's a click bait, plain and simple. This guy is entertainment. It reminds me of the reviews on Test Kitchen. They picked Skippy over Jif, therefore they are dumb.

Same as every other lure: location, activity, presentation, and commitment. It's the last item that often falls short when people complain about not catching on a certain bait.

That reciprocity is only partial coverage of the lake. If stay down south, your fine with either state though.

It depends on how it grenaded. Insurance usually covers accidents and liability. Mechanical failure would be a warrantee fix on a new boat.

No. It means if something goes wrong despite your maintenance it will generally run $1000. However, it seems like that has to go up. Some maintenance costs go up with usage, some are fixed, seasonal expenses. Overall, for me it never seemed that bad. Figure around 15% of what you spend on gas and oil for the year as a spitball figure.

There's been several studies on this very topic that are well documented on the interwebz. TL;DR: It depends on how long they are held, how far from where they were caught they are released, and the circumstances of the catch.

I disagree. Poor technique, and I don't mean poor as in making bad casts, will be hard on your joints no matter the reel type. After suffering some shoulder issues, I learned to make all my casts using two hands, even light short ones. Be conscious of the motions you are using to make a cast, avoid grinding your joints and hard starts and stops; use more of your core to generate torque, and you'll feel a big improvement.

I don't think it's as cut and dry with regards to loans as the conventional wisdom says. There were incentives in place when I last priced out a boat that did put the interest rate a little lower on a longer term. The boat I was looking at would has a resale over $50k after 15 years, though. That might change your perspective. To me, I am comparing it to waterfront real estate. Might not sound like two are comparable, since one depreciates quickly, the other only appreciates. But those are two paths for my family, and it's about what I want to do right now. In that case, the longer loan is attractive and there's always the option to pay off early. A simple bass boat is something I've always just paid cash for, so the loan thing is a new concept. The other end of the spectrum, a six-figure bass boat would be a different story. The advice to sweat the details like motor, interior options, trailer options, and accessories like shallow water anchors and trolling motors is sound. I never thought I'd want a dual console boat, but once I had one, I'll never go back. Believe it or not, trailers seem like a simple choice, but after hauling boats up and down the east coast, there a few must haves. Tandem axles is one. All my boats except one have run the max power. The one that was underpowered was upgraded the second year. Trolling motors, graphs and other things become obsolete rather quickly, do not add anything to resale, so I would not want to be paying interest on any of it. Boat, motor, trailer.

I've talked to JJ himself a few times on the phone when ordering and just that bit of time and how well the product works is all I need to keep using it and never try anything else. Good people, good product.
