Best way to tie down a kayak?
I back my Hobie Compass into the bed, and use a short cam lock strap to connect the rear handle to the tie down in the bed, near the cab. I run another longer cam lock strap around the hull, and attach to the tie down near the tailgate. Different kayaks with be a little different. You basically want to prevent any side to side movement, and keep it from sliding off the back.

New Fishing Kayak - What should I Know?
The three things you want to address seat are seat/foot peg position, paddle storage, then rod storage. After that, You'll find you want something rigged up for tools here, or a rod holder there. I like to mock up the rigging with duct tape before drilling holes or installing rigging rails.

Do you ever fish barbless? Why or why not?
I smash the barbs down when I'm steelhead fishing in winter. It's easier to remove the hook from a big trout in the freezing cold and makes for a quicker release. For bass, it's not a problem, so I leave the barbs alone.

what size weight for tokyo rig?
Why are you using a Tokyo rig? I'm certain that a standard Texas Rig would work in a shallow, shoreline presentation. To answer your question, you generally pick what weight gives the action and weed penetration you desire. There is no "best" size.

Hobie Mirage Passport
They do work in reverse on the Compass, if you flip the pedal drive. I've done this when the breeze is driving me into shore. Typically, I am standing, so I just grab one of the pedals, and give a few flicks to get into better position. I would bet you can do the same on this boat.

Which SMS are you using? I know it's not ours, because we're NYS only.

That's definitely unusual, and probably local to your PC. What browser?

Best rain gear for a Canada fishing trip?
No one is. We're done here. OP: I wouldn't spend too much if they're one time use. Just get some cheap Frog Togs.

Hobie Mirage Passport
While I prefer a rotomolded boat, there have been durable thermalformed boats. It's all in the quality of the materials and manufacture. I wouldn't compare a thermal boat from Hobie or Wilderness to some off brand found in department stores. Same for rotomolded boats.

Rod/reel overboard
I lost this combo overboard years ago, in around 17 FOW with limited visibility. Dropped a way point, came back with a large, weighted treble hook, and got it back. None the worse for wear, but needed a cleaning! https://photos.smugmug.com/Family/Fishing-Journal/i-xX4xLPG/0/2dea303d/X2/IMG_0752-X2.jpg

Hi Viz Line all the way to the lure?
I noticed buddies getting bit on a crystal clear lake, and me getting nothing. Happens all the time when I fish this lake with them. I switched to a leader, and got bit. It probably matters sometimes, but mostly not.

Hi Viz Line all the way to the lure?
How about bright pink. Works fine for me. I do add a leader sometimes. It messes with my head too.

Hooks not penetrating ? Hookset help?
For the Superline Gammies, use braid and at least a MH, if not a H power rod. For your medium setup, a standard wide gap will work fine.

Do Jelly Worms float?
Roboworm or Crosstail Shad have filled all my DS needs. Robo has some salt in the head, but does float. The CrossTail floats and orients itself in any slight current. Both are "do nothing" baits. If you're a jiggler, then GYCB Shad SHaped Worm is for you.
