  1. That's a nice mod. I just started using Marine Mat in my kayak, and it's really comfy to stand on.
  2. I have a ton of Daiwa reels with various Mag Force braking setups, and this works for just about everything. For skipping, I recommend the opposite, zero brakes, high spool tension, and lot's of thumb.
  3. I know this has been discontinued on waders. The lifetime warranty was the main reason people up here bought them at $200 or so a set.
  4. It works. I used a heavier rod with braid on it.
  5. Always use a trailer hook, never any bait. I have no issues getting bit.
  6. 1/8 oz. is way to light for learning. Start with 1/2 oz.
  7. I have one, it's very light, and very low profile. Not as buttery smooth as the heavier Helios, but I think that about any light frame reel. Casts like any other reel in it's price category. Reminds me of my old Daiwa Alphas reels.
  8. Lol, I'm aware. I haven't fished there in a while. Used to go almost every day when I was at Xerox. I once caught a six pounder there, and while reeling it in, a larger fish attacked my hooked fish. There's a lot of harvest in those ponds, so I'm not sure what is in there now. During the spawn, you can literally see the fish on beds as you walk the shoreline. It's one of the more impressive scenes of spawners - a bed about every 4-6 feet. There's also a couple snappers approaching three feet in diameter in there.
  9. That's a pro deal discount. I've seen several bait makers use this model. Secret Weapon Lures is one that comes to mind.

  11. Welcome back. Do you remember your old account name? We don't delete accounts, and there's no way for a user to delete an account.
  12. Most warranties contain some kind of verbiage that says they reserve the right to change the warranty at any time. As far as "stock purchase agreements," is that how JM acquired Cabela's? I thought it was a cash deal.
  13. I had heard they put a plate in his pelvis, and a tube to drain the fluid in his skull. He is awake. That's about it. Unfortunately, I'm getting most of this second hand through various sources. I wish I could just go and see the dude.
  14. I discovered this tactic fishing North Ponds. I even turned the dog catcher (that giant dude named Link, if you recall) on to them and he reported success as well. I think any toad would work, but I feel like the Space Monkey is a more appropriate size.
  15. Because cutting it off takes less than a second, and I can't think of a time I've ever needed a tiny split ring for anything. If I ever need a tiny key ring, I'll save one. ?
  16. Does it cast and retrieve normally? If so, why does it matter? I mean, you don't do that when your actually fishing.
  17. Just as many opinions, as well. Next time your out fishing, say to yourself, "I wish I had rod/reel/line/bait that did this." If the same thing comes up more than a few times, that's what you'll use the most.
  18. Thanks! Found a better pic:
  19. I have the previous gen Yakattack arm. Yes, I do lift it when launching and pulling out. It's close enough to reach easily, but isn't in the way of my paddle stroke. You can see it here, still deployed.
  20. You'd go with a moderate action rod for diving crankbaits. The slower action action allows it to thump better, and the action when it deflects of cover is more enticing. For traps and squarebills, and other shallower baits, I prefer a faster action. I want to feel the bait when it runs into dock piling, branches, or whatever and quickly react, giving the bait some slack. That's hard to do with a slower action. For topwaters, I explained above. A deep cranking rod is one of the more specialized actions you can get.
  21. Get a Switchblade and be done with it. https://www.yakattack.us/switchblade-transducer-deployment-arm/
  22. Speak for yourself. I speak like Jeff Glor , so I must be doing it right.
  23. The title asks for a cranking stick, then you go on to ramble about topwaters and square bills. What do you want to throw? That will change the recommendations widely.
  24. Carry a spare set of gloves, in case you get the main pair wet. I'm sure there's something to the conditioning bit, but that won't help you this weekend. It's going to be in the teens here tomorrow. I'll probably have to wear my fingerless gloves.
