  1. My move is try both rods and pick which just feels better to you for each bait/technique. I get the retying deal - I'm in a kayak most of the time as well. I either bring my 6-2 MXF or my 6-8 MXF, but rarely both. If I think I'm doing topwater more, it's the shorter rod. If it's spinnerbaits, then the longer.
  2. That rod does well with spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, walking/popping topwaters, smaller open hook swimbaits, lightly weighted Texas rigs, jerk/rip baits. It's really a do all rod. I have two SC 6-8 MXF, but in the Avid line. Same blank as the Mojo.
  3. Zebra mussels, quagga mussels, round gobies, and EU milfoil have improved the fisheries up here. Curly leaf pond weed is annoying, but isn't that bad. Cat's already out of the bag, so we roll with it.
  4. Not really a healthy thing, but doesn't seem as bad as it sounds: melanoma.
  5. Yes, he did. ARB is Shimano's marketing term for their corrosion resistant bearings. Daiwa calls theirs CRBB. The roller bearing referred to here is also termed an ARB by other brands.
  6. Who likes knackwurst?
  7. Susquehanna Fishing Tackle. You're welcome
  8. Open the drain and tilt it to drain any water out. Can you hear sloshing when you tip the boat?
  9. That’s milfoil. It’s only beneficial. Adds O2 during the day, provides refuge, and purifies the water. Four dead fry means nothing. One out of thousands of fry make it to adulthood.
  10. That's for stocking game fish. That is why the bait list is so small, so you don't introduce a harmful species.
  11. How would feeding the bass destroy a fishery? What from the link I posted made you think putting shiners, which are indigenous to your waters, was illegal? You're getting the information to base your actions from the wrong source. Why not use the the link to the page that clearly states the law? Putting shiners, whether on hook or dumped into the water is not illegal and will not destroy the fishery.
  12. Not sure moving away from spinning is a good idea. Why would you want to replace a slot head screwdriver with a Phillips head? You want to add to your tool kit, not subtract or replace.
  13. It's ALL in the link I posted above. Took me about three clicks to find the right info from the state site. Exactly, which is why I'm glad Ralph asked. We got each other's backs!
  14. LMAO. No, we're look to move to the same area, just not in a house we picked out with our exes. Looking for a little bit bigger, too. Florida is for vacations. No way I could live there year round. Up here, I'm an hour or two drive from dozens of diverse waters, and year round fishing, despite the cruel winters.
  15. You really want to know? Lol. Selling the gf's house, gutting a few rooms in mine to get ready to sell in 2019, then buying a new house. In between all that...fishing! I'll call it The Larry from now on when posting to the interwebz.
  16. I was thinking this or St. Lawrence.
  17. The species list allowed will not introduce any non native species. The rules are pretty clear: https://www.mass.gov/guides/massachusetts-freshwater-fishing-regulations You are putting the bait fish in the water. It's isn't unlikely none get away. It isn't going to hurt your fishery if you release the bait.
  18. Try a Hopkins Shorty Spoon in this situation. Drop it right under the transducer, and set your graph sensitivity so you can see the jigging action of the spoon. See if you can get those fish react.
  19. They work better on rocky shoals.
  20. These are my favorite: Zappu Inchi Wacky Head, but I also like Buckeye Flick-its.
  21. There isn't really a suitable area or really a bilge, other than the small gap under the flooring in a deep v boat like this. Trolling motor batteries are typically stored in bow storage.
