  1. Tungsten has a higher density, so it's roughly 1/3 the size. It's also much harder than lead. You can't melt and pour it, so it must be manufactured. In places where lead is banned, it's a good substitute.
  2. In clear water, especially a pond where you can see them, I *DO* think low-vis line helps. I think you make a reasonable conclusion in this case. I don't always think it matters, but I've observed the same thing on clear ponds as well.
  3. Look for Cool Baits Down Under. They go down to 1/0.
  4. Pretty much what blue said, though I don't have any older Bandits. Smallies go crazy for this bait up here. I have four of them, and they all run the same. That consistency is important to me. I don't want to lose "that one special bait" when a northern takes it.
  5. Bring one of your reels into a store, run line through the guides, and do a static test to see what the actual taper/action is, and whether you like the feel. I'm thinking a medium moderate or medium-heavy moderate will probably be what you're looking for in the St. Croix line.
  6. This. I don't know what it is, but put a reasonable person behind the wheel of a toon, and it get stupid, quick. There at least three jet skis rigged for fishing around the bay I live near. based on the tackle they're using, I'd say they are very recreational anglers, not the typical die hard that we are. I figure, hey go for it. At least while they're trying to fish, they might see how obnoxious driving affects others and maybe drive with better intent.
  7. Was at home, with my son who was three at the time. Saw the 2nd plane hit live on TV. One of the most heartbreaking moments in my life. I'm still struck by how unified we were, as United States citizens, regardless of politics, religion, race, or gender. It's saddening that it takes a tragedy of this magnitude for that to happen. Here's a story from the day, from a perspective I didn't learn about until years later.
  8. Cool. Just grabbed it from Apple Music.
  9. The scenery is ridiculous. Trip of a lifetime!
  10. You're not too far away from fishing Lake Ontario tribs in winter for these guys:
  11. Wednesday, the heat index was 110°. Last night, had to build a fire, it was so cold.
  12. $1995 for a Hobie Compass including the seat, paddle, and Mirage Drive. @CybrSlydr you're going to have to make two lists, one to equip two kayaks, and another to equip a jon. Add up the cost, then do another "Pros/Cons" analysis. I'm thinking given that you're both pretty big guys, it might be a little tight in a jon less than 14'. You're also limited to kayaks with at least a 450 lb. max weight capacity.
  13. Been there, done that! My other favorite is culling the wrong bass.
  14. A medium/fast and a medium-heavy/fast with reels in the 30 IPT range will cover most typical bass fishing. Finesse, cranking, heavy swimbaits, are when specialty tapers start to come into play.

  16. My two biggest largemouth are from a 12" worm and a 4" worm.
  17. They still do, but they are for trolling and off-shore stuff. The fresh water offerings never took off.
  18. The CellBlock is a little bulky, but works. I put the battery in a small drybag, which is stashed up front, or under the seat, and use the YakAttack Knucklehead and RAM mount for the head unit. The TD arm is from YakAttack as well. I don't really have too much issue with the arm and TD dragging, but the Hobie Compass has a rudder and a twin tunnel hull, so it tracks well.
  19. Is there any possibility you are half pressing the thumb bar when setting the hook?
  20. It’s been more than five years since I broke a rod. Sounds like you’re high sticking and not letting the drag do it’s job.
  21. I’ll have to get Spotify and check it out. I know what goes into finishing an album, so congrats to your son and the band. It’s hard, emotional, and tedious work. It can sometimes test the band members friendships with each other. The payoff is something you can be proud of.
  22. You have a link to the recording or a sample? As long as it isn’t a monetized site, I’d love to hear it, being a musician in a band myself.
