  1. I just happened to catch the update pics on FB of the new place. Looking great, and welcome back!
  2. Not even close..... http://www.lineandlure.com/media/videos/play/4/Reel_Magic_Will_It_Burn
  3. Looking the same for us, too. Expecting some serious lake effect snow. Lake Ontario itself is still relatively warm.
  4. Keen Newport H2O sandals. Ugly, but very comfortable.
  5. About the only truly different thing I had a lot of success with were the Savage Gear goby tubes. Otherwise, just newer versions of the same things. I threw a whopper plopper, too. Just so I could say I did.
  6. It looks like they're still building the facility. That countdown clock is a common trick to build interest.
  7. Right, so the boats will be heavy and slow?
  8. I feel like these are going to be expensive....
  9. So what? It works fine. Better looking than duct tape as well.
  10. I despise marching and drum line. I played in our wind ensemble and jazz ensemble, and also in a small quartet with our conductor. He once played double bass for Ellington. Him on bass, his daughter on piano, me on drums, and his son on trombone, or sometimes just a trio. Our wind ensemble was a traveling competition level group. In 1989, we won best in division, best overall wind ensemble, and best overall in a New England Invitational in Boston. Our signature piece was Owen Ried's LaFiesta Mexicana and Copeland's Lincoln Portrait. There were 128 bands there. My high school had around 500 kids enrolled. If you wanted to be in band, you just had to show up for lessons. Gerry was a hell of a conductor, teacher and friend. I still play to this day.
  11. Loctite blue on the threads, and be done with it.
  12. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. Bass fishing is so much more than the fight.
  13. If someone's loud music is bugging you, and that's the worst complaint you have....sit tight, you're fine.
  14. Bottom structure matters. You're looking for smaller interesting elements in much larger elements. Look below. I have like 50 waypoints in this area. Some are catches, others are definite things like rock piles, boulders, or sink holes that the map won't show. There's a even a patch of weeds that used to grow back every year. It hasn't in a while. All those waypoints describe a a path that bait and predators use. Find a large area like this, and start to define your search boundaries, and it becomes a little less confusing. I pretty much use 25-30' line as my "beach." I'm thinking that you'll probably scale that down, but the idea is similar. Fish are sometimes suspended, but usually very close to the bottom. If you can find that breakline between muddy and clear, and there's bait around? You're going to destroy the smallies, lol. Good luck, hope it helps. We got all winter ti think about this!
  15. You usually have your budget before even looking. It's not an "important consideration," to me, it's a constant. Picking the style and configuration is my #1 consideration, and safety fits in right in there. I've had plenty of days where I simply could not take my bass boat (22' Bullet) where I wanted to because it just wawsn't built for the Great Lakes. My next boat will likely be going back to a deep V tiller, like I had back in the 90s.

  17. I must jinxed myself. Just had a hiccup, but I think it was either browser related or network, nit site related.
  18. I generally use an arm's length of leader.
  19. Carp and goldfish are in the same family (Cyprinidae), but only distantly related. The belong to different genera, and likely cannot bear offspring from a cross. Now comet goldfish (Carassius auratus) and Crucian carp (Carassius carassius, I think) could very well cross breed and produce viable offspring. I think we're just looking at a Crucian carp, above. Whatever it is, it sure is ugly!
  20. I haven't noticed. It's been pretty quick on my end.
  21. Brakes, bearing count, and color. You can find this stuff out easily by looking at the descriptions on their site.
  22. I fish a big body of water for smallmouth - Lake Ontario. It's all about locating bait fish, not bass themselves. Bass can be scattered on seemingly uninteresting structural components, but if there are bait fish, and I mean carpets of them, there will be feeding bass. On the graph, it almost appears like they craw out of the woodwork to take your bait. Use the 200 mghz setting for a narrow cone, and get the sensitivity dialed in to be able to see your weight and the worm clearly. You'll see the fish approach, and shortly after feel them take the bait. Reel into them with a light snap set, and it's on. Good luck.
  23. A Carbontex upgrade from Smooth Drags is less than $10, and will resolve this issue. I recommend a dry install.
