Are you sure they aren't bite offs from pickerel, pike, or muskie? And in my opinion, braid is the wrong tool for this. Straight up mono or copoly is the best for jerkbaits.

Remove the braid, and either use some black electrical tape on the arbor, or several wraps of plain mono. The braid itself is slipping on the spool.

You'd have to really try hard to start a fire with any of them. Perfect Solution is not flammable at all - it's not a solvent, but a degreaser.

I use pure acetone from beauty suppliers. Same stuff a nail tech would use. I basically keep changing out the fouled acetone, and soaking and swirling until the acetone runs clean after a soak. Usually a few hours for each batch. Three soaks usually gets the nastiest bearing clean. Baby food jars work well.

I wanna say Voivod was the actual headliner? I can't remember. I might be combining two shows, because I distinctly remember my friends' band, Pressurehead, opening for Faith No More at the same club. There were a lot of breaking acts back then. Also saw Primus open for 24/7 Spies.

I agree, it's a top down thing. MLF seems headed in the right direction with their rules on fish handling. Still not perfect, but there isn't a perfect answer. You can already see that with diversity in answers already about fish grips.

He's the last of the five big names to come out of the NW scene of the late 80s to early 90s. Two are dead of overdoses (Staley, Wood), two of suicide (Cobain, Cornell). Being involved in a thriving music scene here in Rochester, I've seen my share loss, locally. This one came as a surprise. I watched him perform Black Hole Sun recently on the morning show with Charlie Rose, and thought to myself, this guy is still relevant and on the rise again. I guess I thought wrong.

That splintering is the graphite. It's broken. That kind of splintering usually happens after some impact to the rod. The are is weakened, and splinters over time. I like these tips for tying the FG. I can tie a killer Alberto, but the FG eludes me. I'm going to revisit that knot, and try some of the tips here. I'd really like to have that knot in my toolbox.
