  1. I rarely lose baits to northerns. I did have this one time where I lost three Slim Shads in a row, though. Most of the places I fish, the pike and bass don't intersect, but jerkbait season, they definitely do. I can feel you there.
  2. It's in the FAQs:
  3. I've had that happen with a double digit steelhead. Fight was over in a flash. Total bummer.
  4. What are your water levels like up there? South shore of Lake O. is getting battered. Cuomo declared a state of emergency. It's a mess.
  5. Wow, I'm glad you're okay. That's nuts.
  6. Why support knock off artists? Just fish the real deal. Hook rash just means it's a starter.
  7. A large arrow, pointing to the signal indicator stalk, with the words, "USE THIS!" would be nice.
  8. Some of you guys like to get caught up in semantics. I prefer to help people learn to fish. Sheesh. I hope the OP got the answers he was looking for. More tips, if you use a lead to the stake out (if that's the route you choose) and feed it through the anchor trolley you have more control of what angle your craft settles at. Same goes when using your anchor in deeper water.
  9. Thanks. You rotate or spin into the win. Though "spinning" suggests an never ending rotation. That isn't true. Like was said, you will orient into the wind, depending on where you stake out from. It's the same with an anchor. But you don't spin in circles.
  10. Holy zombie thread!
  11. Yes, in conjunction with a short line and my anchor trolley. I've fished with guys that have the Micro, too.
  12. You don't spin, you end up turning into the wind. In order to spin, you'd have to have spinning wind. My buddy has one on his ATAK 140, and it's a game changer. Wish I could afford one.
  13. Pretty easy to find with google. I think mine was around $90 shipped. Two bolts, and two connections.
  14. Sounds like a bad starter.
  15. The Saint Croix Avid AVC62MXF has a shorter rear grip than the 6'6" model. It's really only a couple inches shorter, from the reel seat to the tip. I like this rod for much of what you mentioned, and I also fish from a kayak. It's over you're price range, but it's a great rod. I've had mine since 2000. A few years ago, Saint Croix rebuilt the reel seat and grips for me.
  16. Is the battery fully charged? Could just be a sticky bendix. Could be a bad starter. I had one go bad, and it was an easy replacement job.
  17. I really don't have a go to, though the past couple years I've caught more on a popper than anything.
  18. Senko is a do nothing drop bait. It's a spot on the spot tool. If you need to cover more water, then you need a different tool.
  19. It's not how far, it's where.
  20. There is the Owner Drop Shot weedless hooks, too. Where the pic for that article was taken, is mostly milfoil and coontail, and the beds are usually fairly clean, so I can use an open hook. I still like to pop a wrist set, though. The braid helps with that, since most of the line is not in the water. Have fun, sounds like a blast.
  21. Try this method with a long drop line: https://www.bassresource.com/fishing/dropshot-bedding-bass.html
  22. Sounds more like drifting to me. No it doesn't work, lol. "Trolling" to me means using the O/B motor, rods in a holder, and following a contour. Po-tay-to, po-tah-to!
  23. Those are great baits.
  24. Never lay the spool flat. You'll surely introduce twist with this method.
