  1. I get it...At $450, that Steez is not at the top. There are variants that are hundreds above that. So, what I was saying is you have a $45K saloon against an $80K sports coupe - closer ratio on price points. Since the Veyron is actually hand built by a small custom house, I'd use that analogy to an hyper expensive, exotic, limited run MegaBass offering.
  2. The point is, you'll get a laundry list of baits, eventually. All them work. Sometimes a few types work better than others. Other times, it's something else. Add in that you can throw it without a trailer, and you get the picture. Lots of options and permutations. I recommend looking at some the options for sale by our sponsors as a start. The Menace, Rage Chunk, and Shell Cracker are effective. I also like Bizzbaits Cutter Craw and Pad Daddy.
  3. 12-15 lb. Rippin' Mono or Tatsu Fluoro. Any reel that is around 25 IPT would be fine.
  4. There is no "best," only some that work better some of the time. Other times, it doesn't matter. I've even had a good bite with no trailer.
  5. A better analogy would be Camaro/Corvette.
  6. That's a great little bait that will catch any species.
  7. I have the standard Komodo. I don't remember the size, but it's on a Okuma swimbait rod. It's held up fine for over a year, fishing for both bass and pike.
  8. I like to start the casual angler with a moving bait - square bills, spinnerbaits, even a curly tail grub on a ball head jig. Reason is, the strike is obvious and fish generally hook themselves. One of the biggest complaints I see on these boards from new anglers is being able to detect the strike. Once they get this down, you can begin with more subtle presentations.
  9. Here's a funny story, relayed to me by Mike D of Lunkerville. He actually had to edit footage so it looked like they weren't catching for an episode. That's a show that is real catches, and real fisherman. Several of my friends have been featured, including a few of our members.
  10. That was the year it was so dry, they couldn't get into the tribs. There were thousands of them in the first 20' of water. Many were even making redds near the beach and spawning right in the lake. You could catch largemouth, smallmouth, browns, steel, cocho, king, or a drum on any cast.
  11. Pretty common for the Grip n' Grin shots at the ramp, too.
  12. Clean it, fill it, seal it. Magic Eraser, Elmers Golden Oak, U40.
  13. Lol. Sometimes we pick up a few of these guys in fall, while chasing smallmouth.
  14. Not getting SI is a mistake. You're missing a lot without it. I use a Helix 5 on my Commander 140. Sometimes I would like the larger screen, especially when running a DI/SI split or navigating to a waypoint. FOr the most part, the 5 is fine.
  15. Micro hair jigs on UL spinning gear is what we used to catch them on, back when we had a closed bass season. Get an assortment of white, black, brown, and chartreuse in 1/16 to 1/50 oz.
  16. Well, the formula is: describe a technique or bait, demonstrate using it, catch fish with it. So, that will always be edited down in that order, and it may not have happened in that order.
  17. I fish Lake Ontario from shore. My favorite spot near my house is only a few dozen yards of shore. Always plenty of fish to be caught. I guess I don't understand the walking the whole shoreline part. Stick to key fish attracting structure and cover. Same goes for ponds. I have a few that would take maybe ten minutes to walk around. I only really fish a few prime spots.
  18. The sound effects are my peeve. Same with the crazy angles for hooksets. Cast to catch videos are for more compelling.
  19. We're done. It is a flat out lie. We aren't a venue for this type of rubbish.
  20. Doesn't a pond limit you to the areas you can fish? I mean, do you really think that most of the bass are out of reach from shore?
  21. Set the drag to below the weakest point in your setup. Otherwise, you risk breaking something - line, rod, or reel. I have seldom needed bore than 6-8 lbs. of drag for bass fishing.
  22. That's an oversimplification. Profit is different than margins.
  23. I'd go to a medium power spinning setup, but I think you have the bases covered there.
  24. You can't copyright a name, though whopper plopper is a registered trademark.
  25. Whoa. Nice!
