Does line make the difference?
I use mono, copoly, fluoro, braid, fused, coated, and probably a few other types of line. I catch on them all. Run what feels good to you. When you come across a situation where the line you use isn't working, then change.

Anyone know good storage for hooks?
I leave the hooks in the original package. They are stored in a Plano Hydro-Flo box. Quick dry via air flow is better than trapping moisture in a water proof box. Used hooks go into an old package that gets inspected before reusing those hooks. I like that safety pin idea, Jaderose!

Plug knocker storage
Smooth Jif. If I want crunch, I add potato chips.

Plug knocker storage
I have the Bill Dance version, but the reel broke after a decade of good use. I tied the line to a dowel, and stuff it all into a peanut butter jar.

Senkos not used in Eite series events?!
I think it's cool to have the focus to learn new baits. I've been beaten in many club tournaments by senkos. I throw them, in fact, I keep a rod rigged and ready with one. Makes a killer seal the deal presentation if you miss a bite - especially top waters. I don't really worry too much about what the pros use. I focus on how they use the baits they win with. I try to apply that to the waters I fish.

Trailer towing problem
Can't be surge brakes, if they don't exist. Pretty sure they aren't standard on that boat anyway. No reason for them.

Trailer towing problem
Well, it's got to be the trailer. Uneven wear on the tires suggests the axle is out of alignment. Does the trailer run off center, or crooked when towing in a straight line? I had this happen when my axle was replaced on my Xpress. Actually wore out a tire in just the mile I drove before returning it to the trailer shop to fix the alignment.

What's your favorite spinning reel line?
There's a lot of lines I like for spinning - 20# braid (several brands, 4 & 8 carrier), Suffix Elite in 6 or 8#, YZ Hybrid Soft 6/8#, Tatsu in 6, InvisX in 6, are a few in different materials that I like.

Penn Battle II spinning reels
You guys need to debate respectfully without resorting to acronyms that reference foul language and insults - thinly veiled or outright. Time to grow up and act like adults.

Trailer towing problem
What is the tow vehicle? Do you have a trans cooler? Can you see the trans temp? Maybe it overheated?

What Do You Count as Your PB?
This point is huge. My 7-2 came from "The City Dump," lol. My 5-12 smallie came about 30 seconds before one of Noel's average sixers.

What Do You Count as Your PB?
I only count the fish from my home state. I have a couple 8+ pounders from Florida, VA, and SC, but 7-2 is my PB LMB from NY waters. 5-12 is my PB SMB from NY waters.

Best 5 lures for small mouth May-August
Up here, the location in May, is drastically different than in August. Pre-spawn and spawn in May, deep, structure based summer haunts in August.

New yaker please help
Look at used, but get some seat time in if you can. The PFD is a MUST_MUST_MUST have, at any age. There's already been a few fatalities this year. They were down south, so freezing temps wasn't a factor. Not wearing a PFD was.

Canoe vs. kayak dryness
The points about the cold are well made. All I'll add is that I'd much rather be in a stable SOT than a canoe when Lake Ontario or Erie are kicked up, or even just big rollers the day after a storm. A little wash through the scuppers is better than upside down.

Do you guys seal the cork on new rods?
Always, U-40. I don't notice any difference in the way the cork feels, but I do notice that my handles look way better than unsealed handles after just a few months.

Storing Pre-rigged Soft Plastics?
I've never "pre-rigged" my plastics - shore, boat, or kayak. The baits are stored in the bag they came in until I'm tied up and ready to rig.

5000C drag upgrade
I replace ALL my drag washers with Carbontex from Smooth Drags. Call them, Dawn will hook you up. A dry stack will give you maximum power and no variance in hot or freezing cold temps. A greased stack (Shimano Drag Star Grease or Cal's Original are my faves), will give you ultimate smoothness, with no sticky break away in to slip. The only con: you have put them in. Other than that, only pros.
