  1. Had a nice evening on Conesus. Nothing big, but a dozen or so of the typical fat dinks that lake churns out. Best five probably only went 12 or so, but s fun couple hours.
  2. I wouldn't say it's the same as fluoro, but it works fine for plastics in weeds. I have 40# spooled on a Zillion and LTB mh/f rod.
  3. I'm not telling what I "presoak" mine in…
  4. Gee, I thought I could go five minutes without offending. Guess not.
  5. I wonder why dry properties of any line matter at all? I mean, sometimes I fish for squirrels in the trees, but usually I go for fish, and they are under water.
  6. Pretty much. Can you feel someone tap on the other end of a vacuum cleaner hose? Can you feel it if someone plucks a guitar string? In which scenario would stretch make a difference? How about density?
  7. Just got a bunch of YakAttack gear - two RAM tubes, two Zooka Tubes, slidetrax mounts for all that, and mounts for the graph and ducer. Oh yeah, got a cool slidetrax T-Reigns retractor. In other news, As of Thursday, I'm up to four of these things, lol. This is a little Tama Birch kit.
  8. Not always, but I do feel the ticks in my arm bones, when it's calm. If it's windy, I struggle, though. I've heard others describe the same sensation.
  9. Hevi-Cast stays down. It works well for me too, reminds me of broken in Power Pro.
  10. The "line stretch" guys are the guys that have to look at the rod tip to see it wiggle to know there's a bite. "Soft hands" can detect a bite, stretch or not, blindfolded.
  11. I have an 18' and a 22' bass boat. I'm not sure if either is "more work" than the other. In fact, I'd say the bigger boat is easier to drive on the trailer. Get the boat you like, can't say length has anything to do with ease of launching or retrieving. Yes, I launch both alone.
  12. I'll try to get some pics of it up here.
  13. How did they come up with kirbed for left offset? And why is a right offset reversed?
  14. Leave it. Exercise it next trip out.
  15. Like Scott said, you can make any unit portable. I use an old six pack cooler. 7ah battery inside, and screw the FF head unit to the top. I've used all sorts of mounts for the ducer. It be as simple as a plank c-clamped to transom of a rental boat, or a gunwale mount arm made for this (Mad Frog Gear makes them). Believe it or not, I roll with helix 5 SI model. Can put it on two kayaks and a rowboat.
  16. If by pike you mean northern pike, most certainly not. They rarely intersect with bass, though some lakes like Cayuga, you run into both on the deep weed lines. It's been my experience that when there's pike around, bass are scarce. I target pike quite often, and they're most enjoyable to fish for from a kayak. It's easier to release, and since you basically follow them (that means you are dragged around, lol) in the boat so they aren't too worn out and release is usually easy. You don't even have take them out of the water, since you're so close. Always have a fish grip or Boca handy, and a set of long handle pliers. Otherwise, I don't net them, no jaw spreaders, and goodness sakes don't grab them by their eye sockets. Pickerel, you bounce them off the rocks on the banks for all I care, lol. I'm half kidding - eat what you kill.
  17. There's big green fish in that lake. I only make a showing when that bite is off, and I'll come in with 15 or so of brown fish. Nothing I can count on though. My buddy is way better on that lake.
  18. It takes 10+ to win the Monday night series my bud runs on Oneida. And that's for three fish, in four hours. Unless the weather is miserable, and everyobe runs to the river, it's almost always green fish.
  19. Those that know what I mean by city dump, know where I fish, lol.
  20. I've only ever polished a damaged spool. Better to avoid it altogether, or replace the spool. Longer cast? Doubt it.
  21. NOTHING in this thread will help you put fish in the boat. In fact, if you try everything, chances are you'll spend more time trying to figure it out. You've fished this leaked for a long time, get on the water and own that place. Don't get fancy, throw what you know, works from top to bottom, shallow to deep. This is basic stuff, really. If I told you to fish a whatchimallit on this thingy rod, and you caught something, would that have been better advice than get on the water? Pattern fishing for bass is a use it or lose it game. Or you can be lucky. That's my take on it, it's not meant to offend, but unless there's a specific problem that can solved, guys that aren't on your lake regularly are grasping at straws for the solution you seek. Big fish take time on the water. The only shortcut is getting lucky.
  22. The C-rig works at the city dump.
  23. So did you want advice or sympathy?
