Ohh boy, another thread where I can hurt some feelings, lol. Unless you are into having upgraded parts for the fun of it, or the OE part has failed, there's little point to replacing bearings. You want to throw lighter weights, get a lighter spool. Better drag, upgrade the washers. Lose some weight, get carbon fiber handle. Heck, bearing upgrades don't even look pretty like an anodized dress up part. There are a couple applications where a dry bearing setup is an advantage, but more for cold temps, not performance. But, in all, a bearing upgrade is fairly inexpensive, and for some, it's easier than cleaning the OE bearings.

Kayak fishing can mean a broad range of mentalities in regards to gear, depending on who you ask. I'm by no means a minimalist, but I do keep it simple. I like 2-5 rods, a few Plano boxes, and a small speed bag of plastics. I roll with an anchor, a stakeout, and I do have graph with GPS and SI, though that doesn't always go with me. The trick is to bring just what you think you might need. No more, no less. Sometimes that's two rods, and basic safety gear. Other times, it's a lot more. It's all up to how you like to fish.

They are deep, in the weeds. You'll know what I mean when you get there.

When I was limited to one reel, I bought an extra spool. One had 12# CXX, the other 50# Power Pro.

Blade style really depends on your paddling style, after that, most paddles are pretty good. I use a full carbon Ergo Oracle by AT, which way out of your range, but that doesn't mean it's the right one for you. It's best to go to s paddle shop to get the right blade for your stroke. You might not even want a carbon shaft if you paddle hard.
