Score: Tubes 0 - Senkos 18 --- What am I doing wrong with my tubes?
I try many different retrieves. I like to rig it as light as possible with a jig head, use an exposed hook, have the weight toward the mid of the tube, and fish it long rocky bluffs. With the weight toward the mid of the tube, it spirals down. Many bites will come on the fall, so watch your line. Sometimes I will squirt some scent up the tube, and fish it very slow... letting it sit on the bottom. Other times I will count it down and swim it slowly back like a baitfish.

suspended bass
Count down a tube and bring it in by lifting the rod tip and reeling down the slack slowly.

New to throwing Crankbaits
When I buy crankbaits, I just think about burning through a bag of senkos... Crankbaits last a lot longer then senkos, and that makes it easier to buy a $15 lure. I still stay away from the $50 black dog baits

Score: Tubes 0 - Senkos 18 --- What am I doing wrong with my tubes?
I love fishing tubes in my home lake, but they don't always work. Last month I caught three fish right away and my partner using a shakey head had zero. My bite die and he caught 10 fish before I saw the light and switch to a shakey head. Let the fish tell you what they want. If the bite slows down or the fish are small, then try something else... that's usually what I do... in a perfect world : I like to start with my favorite lure, and then switch for many different reasons. Most of the time I change for one of two reasons: Lure not working or The fish are biting and I want to work on something new.

Snaps
I use the duo-lock style http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0011850113061a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all_NYR&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntk=Products&sort=all&Go.y=13&Nty=1&hasJS=true&No=18&Ne=3&nyr=1&Ntt=snap&N=6263&Go.x=24&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form1&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1 Never had a problem with them... I like using snaps, and have never had a problem. You will still have to check your line and retie sometimes. But, it's nice to be able to change color or depth quickly. I think they add to the action of the crank which is an add benefit.

Drop Shotting?
I was nose hooking it with a dropshot hook. There are many different ways to work a dropshot. I like to play around with different retrieves and let the fish tell me what they want. Colors; baby bass and white work great in the lakes I fish. Also play around with the distance between the weight and the hook. Good Luck

Drop Shotting?
I agree with Bass-Brat 100%. Read the articles. I bookmark the articles that I think will help me the most. They helped me catch fish. I try new things all the time because of them.

Drop Shotting?
Last week I was using a dropshot with a Zoom Super Fluke Jr. baby bass, and casting it next to cover or structure and not moving it... That techique worked the best. It was over 100 outside, the water temp was 84, ski boats everywhere... It wasn't ideal. A friend of mine was out the day before and only caught 5 between two guys. My boat caught 35. The dropshot will catch fish if you put it in the right spot and let the fish eat it.

I need advise on buying a new ROD!
Thanks for all the great input. Does rod length effect its sensitivity? Rod power why use an "M" instead of "M/H"?
-
You've got 50 bucks, what are you buying?
$50... not much Few packs of spot removers and some plastics to rig with.

jig with brush hog as trailer
I use brush hogs as trailer (sometimes), and they've worked good. I found that cutting them down from the head to just below the front arms, and just use the back portion will allow better hook ups.

I need advise on buying a new ROD!
I'm getting ready to buy a high end rod for shakyhead fishing, and I need advise on length. I like using spot remover heads, and fish mostly rocky banks. There are so many different lengths of rods... I thought I would ask for some opinions/help.

I love the Pflueger President.

What line for crainkbait rod?
I have a reel with cxx, and I don't like it that much. It's 17#, and is too stiff... IMHO My crankbait line is 10# mono. I fish mostly open water and the 10# is great for casting and getting good depth.

What was your personal best caught on?
Night fishing with a full moon. Custom painted ThinFin. I call it the CrackWhore. It has a terrible paint job, but the fish eat it up.

floating trick worms... not professional?
TV magic... LOL A lot of pros like to fish weightless wacky setups with trick worms. Wacky trick worms also work nice on drop shots.

Kastmaster for Bass?
They work great in my main lake. You can caught fish of all sizes. The little fish I'm holding in my icon was caught using a small blue and chrome. My best pattern is cast to rocky points, letting it settle to the bottom and jig it back to the boat. The small hooks help from snagging rocks, but you will get snagged. After a few snags, you should get a feel for how to un-snag the lure without having to move the boat(not every time). I like to bow my rod by grabbing the line and then release it quickly throwing slack in the line. Kastmasters are great lures in the right conditions.

My Wacky rings for wacky rigging
I vote no. O-rings are very easy. Even rubber hair bands seem easier. But, if you like them, that's all that counts... just don't try to sell them.

Shaky Head Weight?
I like to fish shaky heads on spinning gear and go as light as possible. Wind and depth determine what weight i use. If I had to use a bait caster, I would go with 3/8... but it might not be the best weight.
