Soft plastic... set the hook like a pro?
I would like to hear other members soft plastic hook set technique. I find myself unsure about setting the hook after a soft bite. Should I weigh the line or just rip their lips off? How much time do I have to set the hook if I'm not in position to set the hook when I feel the bite?

Looks like a great bait. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for the pointing it out.

Where Are My SmallMouth?
I fish a similar lake. I have a boat, sonar and the game fish trout, crappie and kokanee. My lake is very clear and I have a hard time catching smallies. Please help :'(

Do They Still Produce???
They still bite spinners in my lake.

GYB Fat Ika
I like the Gary Yamamoto 5" D/T H-Grub. Great for poor man jigs and you can cut off the "flappers" and have a Fat Ika look-a-like.

GYB Fat Ika
The Kinami Palm Tree's are $4.50 for 5 without tax and shipping. I would rather buy the Fat Ika's.

Attention All CA Delta Fishermen
"trying to help the delta smelt" Sacramento politicians drains my lake (Shasta) almost every summer. They say it's to protect the delta smelt. If this project keeps them out of Shasta, I'm all for it.

Blanks or carving
What type of wood is used?

Shaky Head?
I picked up some shaky heads and robo worms from wal mart last spring. They quickly became one of my favorite baits.

Lowrance Units Turn Off By Themselves
My humminbird would have problems and my tilt had a hard time rising at the beginning on the year. I clean the battery terminals and everything works great now. Check your battery.

7" Senkos
What size hooks are you using?

Help the new guy out. Lures getting stuck on stuff
I have a weight that I clip to my line, and then let it sink to the lure. Once it's at the lure I try to swing it around. This will help free the lure. If that doesn't work, I have a clip attached to the bottom of my push pole. I clip it on my line and then follow the line to the lure. This works really good. Although last spring, I drove down to Clear Lake and cast my brand new $20 lure 20ft into a tree. No help for that... casting practice... ; ) Good Luck.

Revenge Tail Spinners
Revenge Tail Spinners I'm wondering if anyone on this board uses this spoon. I have a friend who is having some luck with them, and has caught bass, channel cat and trout with them. They seem to catch anything. I would like to start using spoons, but can't find information on technique, time of year... just general info.

Which big spoon?
I like to change it up just because I get bored. Even when I'm out on the lake catching fish. I'll take off a lure that is catching fishing to try out something new. It's nice to try out a new lure/technique when you know the fish are there and biting.

Big Bite baits squirrel tail worm and fighting frog
Squirrel tails worms on a shakey head are deadly on my lake.

Non-Lead Jig Heads
From the bottom of a lake? My lake is about 100 ft down. Last year it was even lower. Also fish might die and float to the top after breaking off a lead jig, and get eaten by a bird or just get eaten by other fish or human. Lead isn't healthy for humans or wildlife. I still use lead, but I have been thinking about switching. It's a good idea to have this debate, and make sure we are protecting our fishing waters and resources.

Best Old/Vintage Crankbaits?
I love the Thin Fin. I buy them and repaint them to meet my needs. Sexy shad, craw, whatever... Thin Fins are the best cranks ever.

Tube Baits
I don't know what brand I use. The local tackle shop has several bins with different sizes and colors for $0.35 each. I like to texas rig them with a glass bead and a bullet weight, or a tube jig with an exposed hook. I get much better hookups with the exposed hook, but lose my tubes more often. Tubes and senkos are my most productive lures, and tubes are my favorites.

Wacky Rigging, My Way
LOL I stole a hand full from my girls a while back and keep them in my tackle box.

New to Jerkbaits
I fish a large deep clear lake. Last week the surface temp. was 81 degrees. Would you fish a jerkbait in these conditions?

Losing Senkos...
What is Texpose?

Clear Water Tackle
I fish large clear lakes all the time. My best producer is the tube. I like green and white/gray.
-
Mend-it Reivew
I use a lighter and my tubes and senkos get fished and fished again. If the plastic is in very bad shape, I heat up the eye end of a hook and use it to melt the plastic. It works good.

Your biggest on a senko
I think senkos catch everything big and little. My fishing partner caught a 5.5 lbs LM on a wacky senko. This year my biggest senko fish is probably around 3 lbs.

Jigs Vs Senko
I love senkos. I fish a deep lake and use senkos and tubes most of the time, so I picked senko. But, if I could choose between senko vs tube... TUBES win.
