  1. Skill. Not his first rodeo I am guessing. No one take that chance just to test their luck.
  2. I don't know these two rods but, I often look at the handle length to determine what "real" length I am getting from the reel to the rod tip.
  3. Halo...Hello...

  5. Does your reel have a trigger? Trigger release reels fall backward when you are doing what it sound like I think your doing, putting your hook on the rod when you're done fishing. The thing about the hip make me think I am correct. That is going to be an inherent problem with a trigger release spinning reel. Find that spot where it doesn't turn backwards and keep it there. The, like others have said, turn the spool by hand to release the reel so your line is straight and taut.
  6. I called his daughter immediately after and she got a big laugh. I know he did too. I'll try Gut...
  7. Auto Correct can get ya. Every Friday afternoon, the owner of our company texts a "GOOD SHABBOS" to me and I text it back. Last Friday, he texted and I quickly tapped out what I thought said GOOD SHABBOS. Later, I read his response was...OK Auto Correct, corrected what I thought I typed to GOOD SHAMBLES. What the hell is GOOD SHAMBLES ...? LOL
  8. I think that as long as there is a bit of humor detected and it is done with the right intention, it is helpful. Even someone that admits a lack spelling skill can gain from it. I know that if I am spelling or using grammar incorrectly, I want to know. I have outside sales people that work for me. I am relentless on spelling and grammar. I want how they communicate to not make them look bad in the eyes of customers or superiors. This discussion isn't new here on BR. We started it up years ago. There was a high school kid that was a great fisherman and was always on the "spelling and grammar shouldn't matter" team. After his first semester of college, he got back on here and admitted he was wrong. At college, he found out he was a spelling and grammar failure and his grades showed it. It took a lot of work on his part to re-learn what he should have learned early on in school. It took a lot guts to admit it. I gained some respect for him and anyone else that wants to do something as correct as they possibly can.

  10. Nothing mentioned about the rod. Could the rod be "a" contributing factor? I have never had issues using braid for treble hooks. Braid and the appropriate rod, with the correct hook set, should be fine.
  11. His mudder was a mudder...
  12. Considering some of our ages, at first I was not sure where the title of this thread was going...
  13. LTJ fisherman on the Chesapeake Bay regularly use 6-6'6" M-MH rods with 2500-3000 size reels and 20# braid. Catching big fish with no issues. Match your gear to the water. In open water, without the cover associated with bass fishing, it's all about drag and skill.
  14. All of the saltwater websites are talking about the bluefish bite being great.
  15. We target them in April in the Potomac River. Average fish is 12-13".
  16. We target them in southern Virginia when my partner and I go there for the month of September. We like them.
  17. You cannot possess them alive.
  18. I guess I should clarify that I don't typically DS finesse. Usually in the matted grass. Jig on the end with a beaver or something on the drop. So, I guess in a purely finesse situation, I'd have to agree.
  19. I ordered a Scorpion 1000XT from JLS, four days from order to delivery.

I think maybe the Leonard, Hearns, Hagler, Duran era, may have been the best in boxing ever...

Kevin Rooney (his trainer under Jim Jacobs) was training him to be a boxer. Don King and his clowns were his ultimate downfall in the end. I agree with snook. Tyson the skilled boxer, combined with his natural power, would have been untouchable.
