  1. Since I got out of the USAF 28 years ago, I've been fortunate to work with people I enjoy being with and have made life long friends. I started a couple of years ago working (and it is a lot of work) with a good friend as a fishing guide. Worked hard, got my USCG Captain's license and spent a lot of money gearing up. That good friend is now one of my best friends and I have a blast on the weekends from March through October. Sometimes I don't believe it is real...I get paid to take people fishing. Do you know what the difference is between a professional tournament fisherman and a professional fishing guide? A professional fishing guide always collects a check.

Hopefully no one is standing in the cold, waiting to be picked up...
  3. I had a Rosewood spinning rod. I didn't see it had slid under a cleat when I picked it up...crack...d**n...I never really got to test it out good. Hope that was helpfull...LOL
  4. Back in the day, flippin sticks were parabolic . I still have a Castaway HG40 that is parabolic.
  5. Thanks everyone, spot on, clicking gone.
  6. I have two Citica 200E's. Both work perfectly. One however, has a clicking noise when the handle is turned. While OFF the rod, if you hold the reel with the level wind pointed UP, clicking noise. When you hold the reel with the levelwind facing DOWN, no clicking nlise. Logic dictates that it must have something to do with the levelwind but what? Or is my logic wrong? I bought them from a friend that was upgrading and couldn't pass them up. I will be selling them on the fleamarket but, I'd like to know what is making the clicking noise and if it is an easy fix.
  7. Remember also that most, if not all states, require there to be a life jacket for every passenger. In order for the inflatable to count, it must ALWAYS be worn.
  8. I am sure Mike at DVT will chime in on this topic. I know the rod he built for me was spiral wrapped and the first guide was NOT at 0 degrees but off a few degrees. He said his static test indicated the placement of the first guide.
  9. When I bought my latest boat from another guide, he unloaded a ton of old tackle on me along with it. About twelve or more spincasting reels of various brands and qualities. (some quite nice) At local fishing flea markets in two winters, I have sold all but three. Not one to an inexperienced angler or a kid, all to guys that use them for a specific purpose. One guy last weekend said the he uses them to "sling shot" baits into small openings. He pulls some line out about a third the length of his rod, holds in the button, points his rod at the target, pulls the bait toward him and "shoots" the bait into the spot by releasing the button. He claimed he could hit a dinner plate at 35 feet.
  10. Remember also that hydrilla grows in a canopy. Matted on top, open underneath. That's part of the answer to "how do they thrive?"
  11. Like everywhere else, all the big shows are long gone. What we have here in MD/VA are many fishing flea markets. Local guides, some regional tackle makers, seminars by local guides and charter captains and most important, local fisherman selling used tackle at HUGE discounts. We have both salt water and freshwater fleamarkets. All very well attended only costing $2-3 to enter. We look forward to them every year.
  12. Spend the time going to the many fishing flea markets around the area. Great deals to be had. Looking at and buying tackle is the next best thing to fishing. Especially when there's no catching...
  13. So Choporoz couldn't use it. LOL

  15. The stresses of fame and fortune... It is difficult for us mortals to even fathom what that level of fame must be like. So many dead and 100X's that get on the stuff and live to tell the tale. Only they can convey what it is like... Celebrate what their art brought to us.
  16. Over a quarter mile up... Imagine the conversation in the next county... "Hey, did you get hit by any of that yellow rain earlier today?"
  17. We have a similar small lake with no live bait. They said it had to do with introducing ANY live creatures into the system.
  18. I got it...
  19. I like to listen and see if I can figure out what he is saying...LOL

  21. Maybe Jeff should be a sticky so everyone knows he is here now...
  22. Irene should be a one man woman. Multiple men using Irene would make Irene sound like a...well you know.
