Down south they are called mud fish. They fight great at the beginning making you think you have a quality largemouth until you see them boat side and then they start their death roll similar to a catfish. I personally hate all trash fish that imitate gamefish until you find otherwise.

I heard from a guy who's job is to track the great lakes condition. He is forecasting this years iceout will be one to two weeks behind last years. Last year there was a warm-up in February. This years average February temps might have set a record for low temps.

A weighted swimbait hook places the weight under the middle of the bait making it fall more horizontal. It also acts as a keel weight to keep the bait from rolling. The weighted jighead places the weight at the nose or front of the bait & it falls head first. Different actions.
