You can wake it across the surface, slow swim it mid depth, work it like a jerkbait with twitches & pauses & swim it then let it drop into pockets in the weed cover. I like to use it with a owner 6/0 3/320z twistlock light weighted hook model 5167W-706.

Lots of favorites. I favor the bigger baits. Husky jerks, smithwick rogues, lucky craft pointers, meggabass 110+, duo realis, flits, and some special dd baits that I have stocked up on. I use both the deep divers & shallow divers.

Since you asked. Jerkbaits , you pick the flavor. I have caught smallies, largemouth, walleye, perch, steelhead, brown trout, pike, channel cats, lake trout and way to many sheephead (drum) while fishing for smallmouth with jerkbaits. You can cover depths from shallow to deep and they always get bit.

Why would a young guy need an engery drink ?

I feel the same way. Vertical jigging, blade bait or spoon would do the same job. The only difference is the dropshot rig is almost exclusively a plastic presentation only which could be an advantage.

When I fish with certain buddies in their boat we often fish shoulder to shoulder from the front of the boat when targeting banks or a weed line. Its no big deal. Just fish off the guys left side if he casts right handed. Otherwise I fish from the back. Non tournament just fishing for fun. When I'm fishing from my own boat on Erie I always fish the starboard side so I can see the finder & work the kicker if its being used. My guest gets the port side of the boat. We predominately fish from the back of the boat.
