  1. I have nosed hooked flukes with a 1/0 or 2/0 wacky hook & it works just fine. Gives the fluke a more natural look especially when you kill it after jerking or twitching. A more stealthy way of hooking a fluke than traditional worm hook or keel weight hook.
  2. If they took the time to weigh fish on TV all the fish would be smaller than if they guess the weight. The typical 4lber would only weigh 3lbs.
  3. Nice brown fish, especially that old German.
  4. WTG Top. Great picture & nice bass as well. Your smile tells it all.
  5. Glad you added to your arsenal, Tom.
  6. I like moderate action rods for all cranks baits/jerk baits. They give me better hook sets without pulling the bait away prematurely. Moderate action rods help keep the fish pinned until landing because they absorb more shock from a hard fighting fish. I use light power, medium power & medium heavy power all with moderate action. Works for me.Addressing the stock hook issue is another answer. If the stock hooks are not super sharp either sharpen them or replace them. My life is too short not to use sticky sharp hooks.
  7. Go get em A-Jay. And post up some biggies.
  8. Welcome to the brotherhood. Fishing weekends just became optional.
  9. You beat me to it.
  10. That depends. If your a serious smallie fisherman you might opt for C town assuming the wind isn't blowing & the water isn't dirty.
  11. Really great color on that beauty.
  12. Smallmouth Bass fishing addiction affects adrenaline and creates a “rush” and pleasurable feeling. Signs of SMB fishing addiction include increased alertness, excitability, feelings of euphoria, increased pulse and heart rate, insomnia, fidgetiness, uncontrollable movements, a loss of appetite and an uncontrollable urge to buy tube baits. Withdrawal symptoms or after the high of the trip wears off includes apathy, long periods of sleep (fatigue), irritability, hostility, aggression, depression, paranoia, and disorientation. I have SBFA with serious jerk bait addiction instead of tube malaise. The rest of the description is pretty accurate. I do find the best way to hide my symptoms from family is to catch a 6lb+ smallie which puts a _hit eating grin on my face for a 24 hour period masking all other symptoms.. My wife just thinks I'm drinking too much. -
  13. fishindad The avid AVC70MM is a great choice at $180. I have two of those I use for lake erie smallies. My favorite cranker is a legend tournament walleye spinning rod! It's a TWS70MHM deep cranker & retails for $230. Handles 6-12 line weight & 1/4-3/4 lure weight. Its in between the legend tournament bass casting rods Small cranker & Big cranker which also retail for $230. I have caught some nice bass on it & it will handle a one ounce bait with no problem.
  14. Congratulations on the new pb.
  15. Tressell was making about 3.5 million per year with a contract thru 2014. That's leaving a lot of money on the table!
  16. I chose heat in seven, It is going to be a dog fight for sure.
  17. Best used with treble baits like jerk baits & cranks. Use braid with it & you might have success with other applications as well if it has some stiffness/backbone.
  18. 10. If all else fails, use braid!!! Works for me! The only deterioration is through use.
  19. Fat-G Don't forget the nrx has a defect warranty as well as a wild card. The wild card gets you a free rod no questions asked for careless breakage or other accidents. The manufactures warranty covers only manufactures defects.
  20. Great outing with some real quality fish.
  21. Very nice showing.
  22. A-Jay just strap your yak to the top of that goat & go! To bad your not closer to me, I would get you out. I'm sure I would learn a little while motoring around.
  23. Richard, can your son reel with his left hand adequately? If so you could switch him over to a bait caster. He would cast with his arm right but reel with his left by using a lefty reel.
  24. Congrats on your new PB. Don't forget to update your profile.
