  1. Something bold, 1/2 tsp sugar and a splash of almond milk creamer. I was drinking the BRCC K-cups for a while, but we switched to Tayst due to their compostable K-cups. I reached out to BRCC to see if they had any plans of offering something similar, but their response made it pretty clear they're not interested. I like supporting veteran-owned businesses, but I'm also worried about the millions of little plastic pods winding up in landfills. When we make a full pot, which is typically weekend mornings, it's Peet's "Major Dickenson Blend"
  2. Personally, I'd go with a rack system over a trailer. If I'm going to deal with a trailer, I may as well drag a boat around instead of a kayak.
  3. Anything you do to raise the seating position will have a negative effect on the kayak's stability. Set some 2x4's across the gunwales and sit on them while you paddle around. You may find it's stable enough to adapt a stadium seat...but you could also find that it's now so unstable that it's essentially unusable.
  4. My thoughts exactly. I used to sell on there quite a bit in the late 90's and early 00's, but the scammers and eBay's mgt ruined it. PayPal sides with the buyer more often than not, which leaves the seller with no recourse. Then you tack on the ridiculous listing fees, final value fees, PayPal's cut, etc. It's just not worth the effort anymore.
  5. This. I don't think I even own any bullet weights over 1/4 oz, with the vast majority of them being 1/8 and 3/16.
  6. I live less than 30 miles from their GA location and my last rod shipped out of CA. ?
  7. The Pflueger Trion is another highly-regarded reel in that price range.
  8. Search for a new job in a warmer climate? ? No ice in the Atlanta area right now. As a matter of fact, as soon as I get a couple automotive projects done (hopefully next weekend), I'll be back in the kayak chasing the winter large mouths.
  9. I can see both sides of this. I see fishing gear as toys, and have no problem parting with old toys to buy new ones...but I hate having to replace setups that sold. I sold off a decent float & fly setup about 5 or 6 years ago, and when I decided that I wanted to do more winter fishing this year,, I had to spend quite a bit more to replace it all.
  10. And, of the small percentage of people who know who he is, an even smaller percentage would be willing to buy it. Wear it or display it.
  11. I use the same setup for squarebills and spinnerbaits. 6'8" Falcon Bucoo SR MH/MF (spinnerbait/jerkbait) US Reel Supercaster 1000 spooled with 12lb Sufix Siege
  12. If possible, take the reel with you to the store and try it on the rod before you buy. A heavy spincast reel on a pistol grip rod will probably be awkward for an 8 year old. It might feel fine in the hand of a grown man, but those grips are often much too large for a child's hand. I made that mistake several years so with my boys and Zebco 33s and pistol grip Ugly Stiks.
  13. The used boats are trickling back onto the market now that the season has ended for a lot of people, but many of them overpaid and expect to recoup 85% to 100% of their purchase price...especially since they're throwing in a used $20 PFD and $30 paddle. ? I'm seeing used Pelican sit-insides listed for $350 when the local Academy has them in stock for $229. Same thing with the Lifetime Tamarack 10. They're $300 new from Walmart and $400 used on CL.
  14. To each his own and all that, but I have both a sit-on and a sit-in, and if I could only keep one, it would be the sit-in. The sit-on is fine for warmer weather and flat water, but the sit-in is a much better river boat and allows for a cockpit splash guard which keeps the wind off the legs during colder weather. It's also quite a bit lighter and easier to throw on a shoulder for portaging around obstacles. Two flush rod holders on the rear deck, a short Scotty track on the dash for a Gear Head, and plenty of room for a tackle bag between my legs. I have a YakGear/Yakattack hybrid anchor trolley to install when I have a few minutes, but otherwise it's good to go as-is.
  15. Kayak fishing will teach to you to leave the unnecessary crap at home. My advice, don't get hung up on accessories and rigging. Find something safe and stable that you can afford, and will carry your weight. In general, you want to be no more than 70% to 80% of the kayak's rated max weight, and that's including you and all of your gear. Too heavy in a sit-on and it will become sluggish and tippy, and you'll have standing water in the bottom because it's riding too low to drain the water out the scupper holes. Too heavy in a sit-inside and it will draught low in the water, drastically increasing the chances of it swamping and sinking when/if you encounter waves and/or choppy water. Sometjing as simple as the wake from a passing boat can have you swimming. Buy a comfortable PFD and wear it, every time. It doesn't have to be expensive, but generally speaking, the more you spend, the more comfortable it will be. I'm sure some others will be along shortly to cover anything I've missed.
  16. I'm all for patronizing the local shops, but they have to give me a reason to do so, besides just being "the local shop" I can understand that the smaller shops don't get the same deals from suppliers because they don't/can't buy as much as BPS and other larger retailers, which means they need to charge a bit more to make a profit...but I'm not paying 2x average retail. It's just not going to happen. I'm also not going to patronize a local shop whose customer service sucks. I can get that anywhere. If they're not offering me something special to make up for the higher prices, why would I shop there instead of the big guys?
  17. In the trash. When I change lures, I place the used ones in my cupholder or tackle bag. As soon as I get near a trash can, I toss 'em.
  18. What makes the Feider Fly better than something like the Spro Phat Fly (about $1.75 each) or the Punisher hair jigs (about $2.50 each)? https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Spro_Phat_Fly_2pk/descpage-SPHF.html https://punisherlures.com/collections/jigs
  19. Lmao. We use it to hang exterior Xmas and Halloween decorations.:D
  20. .020", but just stainless. I have a bunch of .020", .025", and .032" from my time as a structure mechanic. No A&P, as I didn't do any powerplant work, just heavy structure (primarily) on KC-135 and C-130.
  21. I've had a handful fall apart this year (only Stanley's for some reason), so I grabbed the roll of safety wire and the appropriate pliers, and added a couple wraps to every spinnerbait in the box.
  22. Unfortunately, the pandemic drove the price of entry-level kayaks thru the roof over the spring/summer. If you're patient, you may be able to score a lightly used one for around your budget once people get tired of tripping over them in their garage or basement...but I have a feeling we're going to see a whole lot of them listed for full retail (or higher) this spring.
  23. I started out with a sit-inside kayak roughly 10 years ago, and caught lots of fish. I've since bought/sold a half-dozen or so in both sit-on and sit-in, and I've learned that there is no such thing as a "one size fits all" kayak. I currently have a sit-on for warm water lake/pond fishing and a sit-inside for river/stream and colder weather. Honestly, if I had to give one of them up, it would be the sit-on. OP said he lives by/on a reservoir with limited bank access, so whatever he buys would need to be easy to carry/launch, and sit-inside is simply easier to carry than a sit-on...especially if he has to deal with small trails and/or overgrown banks.
  24. OP could pick up a Pelican Argo 100, PFD, and cheap paddle for about $250. https://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/pelican-argo-100-10-ft-kayak#repChildCatid=5250511 Light, cheap, easy to carry, and (according to everything I've read/seen) they're not bad handling little boats.
