As I said yesterday it has to be a personal choice. I don't choose to fish for bed fish even though I know I catch some. I am not sure that you can truly measure the impact of bed fishing. I do agree with that catch and release is a problem on some fisheries. I also distinguish between a tournament angler bed fishing from a Trophy Hunter. To a guy that targets record class bass this is their opportunity to get their trophy and rarely does the bass spend anymore time out of the water than it takes to weigh and photograph.

I think it's a great idea if it could be done.

For some people they view "sponsorship" as some kind of validation. There are many different levels of sponsorship varying on the angler and what the company offers. There are some quides around here that do not fish tournaments but have sponsors. Also some of your TV guys like Bill Dance that no longer fish tournaments are still sponsored.

As a general rule I treat non-tournament anglers the same as I would if they were a competitor.

Sponsors have nothing to do with it. Winning money in itself doesn't either. I have fished in some of the same tournaments as Dee Thomas (the father of the flippin technique) and Gary Dobyns(Arguably the best Western Angler ever). That doesn't make me a pro. We all know which circuts are top level. Once you make it to the Elite 50 you are a pro. Once you make it to the FLW you are a pro.
