By definition it would be: participating for gain or livelihood in an activity or field of endeavor often engaged in by amateurs. So that would make any tournament angler a "pro" angler if they fish for money. I think a pro angler would be one that competes in a major circut like the Elite 50, FLW or WON Bass out here in the west.

I don't think it should be outlawed. We have enough regulations. My opinion is for me personally. I think this is an issue were everyone makes a personal choice.

Ok. Lets try this another way. There are no new dams endangersing these Salmon and California is pretty industrialized. According to their own article the predicted Salmon population is the same for 2007 as it was in 1992. Over that stretch there have been up and down years. I am not advocating letting the Salmon go extinct. My point is just that once you start closing lakes and fishing season you give the extreme enviromentalist another weapon to use against all fisherman. There are more effective ways to manage our fisheries.

Over the weekend, I had 3 fishing friends confirm that B.A.S.S. does give a 12" exemption while fishing in Florida. Lame I was watching the weigh-ins live on the internet and I saw a 10 and 11 oz bass brought in by co-anglers. I don't know if I could of swallowed my pride and bring it to the scales. are you kidding me? when the fishing is tough, a 12 inch fish or 10 ounces could mean the difference between winning and losing. cashing a check or going home broke. i will swallow my pride every time when there is money on the line. you must not tournament fish with that statement. It's about points too.

There in lies the problem. I am not a Salmon fisherman either. But we all should care because it my not end here. We have already seen the closure of several lakes to all fishing in Southern California. This is just the kind of things that the "Enviromentalists" willl latch onto and attack all fishing.

According to todays Sacramento Bee California officials are considering an all-out ban on Salmon fishing in California this year because of record low spawning run in 2007.
