Free Lead
Not really, Shot travels a lot further than the broken(hopefully) pigeons do.

Illinois State Records
he said he fished it 2-3 times per week though so its not that "unfished anymore" I'm the only one who fishes it and I never keep bass so I would consider it pretty unfished.

Tell me the truth.....
Ya pretty much the same, The colors look more like saltwater colors, I don't know if thats what you were going for. The trick to fly tying is hiding the thread you used to tie the feathers to the hook and I can't tell from the picture.

Free Lead
We went right after a light freezing rain so the snow was really crusty and the shot didn't penetrate the snow that much.

Old Rapala Spoons
One of my all time favorite lures where the retired Rapala weedless spoons. The non-weedless ones were worthless but, man, when you put a grub tail on them, they are deadly. Not just for bass, pike, muskie, even lake trout. Anyone still fish them or know why they were retired?

Bondo Mold
You could probably use with Vaseline like you use for plaster molds, I'm not sure though. Wait for the first layer to dry, then smear the Vaseline over everything then pour the second layer.

Free Lead
One of my hobbies besides fishing is to shoot targets with a shotgun. I got a pretty nice club with 10 Fields so it gets a lot of use. One day I went out there after it closed, put a tarp down in a friends pickup truck, and shoveled it full of the snow/lead shot. He left it in his garage over night and let the snow melt and got a good amount of lead.

Illinois State Records
The pond is about 100 sq yards, In the beginning I didn't bring a scale but when I caught this fish I started bringing one. I forgot my cell phone the day I caught the 9lb.

Illinois State Records
Alright so the Illinois state record bass is 13 and some ozs. I found a pond near the end of last summer that I fished pretty 2-3 times a week. The last time I went before it got too cold I caught a 9lb Bass and I'm positive I have seen bigger. I have a feeling that I am going to break the record this summer. Does anyone know the rules that go with catching record fish from ponds?

Poll:favorite lure type
Spinner baits, You can cover a lot of water, you can crank fast for the surface or crank slow for the bottom, and they are fairly weedless.

Unbelievable!!!
My dad had to "sneak" out of the house to go fishing. You are a lucky man. I'm from northwest chicago so I had the warm weekend as well, How was the fishing?

One Piece Vs. 2 Piece Molds
My dad has some 25 year old one piece molds but when I pour them they always come out terrible. I was thinking about making some plaster molds in hopes of making some higher quality worms

One Piece Vs. 2 Piece Molds
I'm thinking about making a couple of molds so I can recycle my ripped worms. I was wondering which was better, a resin one piece mold or a plaster 2 piece mold?

Losing A Lure
I went lake trout fishing up in lake athabaska and we lost 7 Huskie Devils ($11 a pop)

t-rig weight color.
You have to remember that black leaves a greater silhouette so if your fishing in muddy water, cloudy days, or night I would go with the black. Any other time probably the brown

How often do you get skunked?
I have never gone out on a boat and got skunked, but sometimes I won't catch anything over 1.5lb

What's the strangest thing you've caught on the end of your line?
I didn't really catch it but one time I was up a boundary water and i caught a nice largemouth bass. Since that was the only fish all night and we needed to eat I put him on a stringer and was tying him to the canoe we he went for a run. Needless to say and swore for about 10 minutes until I saw a stringer floating in the slop.... We rowed over there and grabed it with the fish still on it.

a question about spawn
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think that the fish actually make contact. The male just makes its nest and a female swims along depositing her eggs then swims off. The male fertilizes the eggs and then you got 2000 little bass swimming around

The One That Got Away
I fishing at a pond with a bluegill and about 4 feet infront of me a 10+lb bass took the bluegill. I was having terrible sets that day so I waited until it went to the middle of the pond to set it. When I set it it was on for all of 7 seconds and it spit the bluegill out.... :'(

Help me please
Bait Cast reels always takes some time to get used too. I start out my spool with a nice tight square knot (2 over hand knots) but I don't know if thats the correct way to do it. As for learning how to use a bait caster.... Tighten then tension (not the drag) it should be a little knob on the side somewhere. Keep your thumb on the spool at all times, it gives you better control over the lure and it will prevent backlashes (birdnests). Once you learn how to cast it with a high tension turn it back a little at a time, so its not too loose that you get backlashes every cast, but not too tight that you can't cast it very far. Above all, learn how to cast it well before you go fishing with it. If you don't you'll end up spending 5 minutes every other cast getting backlashes out.

Do you keep a journal of your fishing trips?
One thing I noticed is that log doesn't not have the weather of the day before. Heavy rains, Cold Fronts, and Heavy winds, will all have a major affect on fishing the next day.

At what temp do bass spawn?
I read somewhere that the bigger fish spawn a little earlier than the rest (or at least start their spring feeding earlier) There was a post not to long ago that said a 13lb fish was caught in 58 degree water and it had already laid its eggs. But ya 60 is when it usually starts
