  1. I'm in highschool and I've been saving up for a baitcast reel. I don't want to spend over $100 dollars so my question is whats the best and why?
  2. Adding to what BigBill said, A family found a Pike Jaw in WI on a beach. They saved it for several years and just recently took it to a taxidermist to estimate the size of the fish. He said it was at least the size of the current world record if not bigger. However, the biggest pike have historically come out of Canada. There are huge fish every where you just have to know where to look.
  3. I vote for tight wraps

If I was going to get a sponsorship I would be the one looking for the sponsor not the other way around that way I know I like the product. But like road said if I really liked to fish Alurringbait's trick stick but GY was going to give me free Senkos, hell, no question I would take the Senkos.
  5. Gatorade+Monster, Twizler ropes, and Beef jerkey
  6. This article gives you a idea of how a lake is changing as far as temperatures. http://www.bassresource.com/fish_biology/ponds_maintenance_schedule.html
  7. Anodizing?
  8. I'm surprised this thing hasnt been closed
  9. You should tie the Palamor knot. It won knot wars and it easier+faster to tie
  10. I am by no means an expert but if spend half my day targeting the deep water bass with a swimbait and only come up with 2 I don't want to have to rush to get 3 more bass to fill my limit. I would rather get at least 3 keepers and then go for the lunker. Maybe I'm too conservative.
  11. After you guys have caught your limit how do you target the bigger bass?
  12. Give every tourney your all, because once you get to the big games you have to know how to play big. If I have to get to my spot a half an hour away I am going to go as fast as I can no matter how much I payed for the entry.
  13. If I fished tournys I would probably do a little scouting. Just to take a spin around the lake and find some good spots. Like it was mentioned earlier, look for other boats on the lake they probably have fished that lake many times before and know what they are doing.

Well I guess if your looking for quality lead then shot isn't the way to go. But hey its free, you get what you pay for.
  15. Hester, You better win your sectional so the BR members can kick some butt at the state tourny.
  16. Does anyone know how old bass have to be to get to 13lbs because the pond was stocked 10 years ago. I might be wasting time if the bass couldn't get to 13 lbs in 10 years.
  17. It was 50 all week long until the weekend and it went back down to 30..............
  18. I just bought a mann fat -1, first cast I caught a bass
  19. I'm sure that other states will fallow once they see how successful Illinois will be. Florida is already debating whether they are going to have it or not.
  20. I just talked to a teacher today, I live in Chicago and fully expect to compete in the spring of '09. I can't believe that it is actually going to happen and I'm kinda mad that I will not be able to compete in future years (That will be my senior year). From what the teacher said its pretty much going to be 1-2 tournaments a season. I'm lucky enough to have a boat but it will be interesting to see how much support we get. I think its great that students will finally be introduced to the "sport" of fishing at a young age not just catching bluegills off a dock. Unless you have a father that is really into fishing you just do not get exposed to the sport. I'll keep you guys updated on how it's all working out at school.
  21. I have used Snaps forever. The only time I ever had a broken snap was when I was in the Florida Keys with my bass rod and hooked a tarpon. I had 40lb test but the swivel was bent straight
  22. I use live bluegill that I catch from the pond they don't touch any artificial stuff (or maybe I just stink). This summer I might think about moving a couple small bass to another pond with no bass in it.

I use frogs use frogs once in a while. I know it's kinda child book but if you drag a frog across a lily pad just let it set there and twitch it for a couple seconds. As soon as you move your frog to the next pad get ready for a huge strike. It works pretty well the fish are all up in the slop
  24. Very Nice work, I'm especially fond of the last Handle. Just a question, Does the wood make the handle to heavy compare to cork?
