10 Million Dollar Lawsuit Filed in Obion County Central Bass Team Death
I suppose you can call it a different form of fishing. Casting a net like that is perhaps like a box of chocolates... ? To the topic, based on what has been disclosed, it looks like the fault appears to be on the captain. Tragic for sure.

Help with knots
I don’t use the double uni but for the improved clinch knot, the standard is five wraps. If I think the line might, like with a new braid that feels slick, I might add 2-3 wraps.

Brainfarts while rigging?
This is one of my main ones, and sometimes I do fully believing that indeed I was trimming the tag. One time I did this 3 times in a row. ?

Used to make a lure, can't find it anywhere
Do you mean the plastic type of tubing out in trebles? If so, you can just buy the tubing and add it to the treble of any inline spinner, Mepps or otherwise. I would imagine most of the tackle making web pages should carry it. I agree with you that they’re very effective. And if they’re getting harder for you to find, you might want to seriously consider making your own spinners. Compared to making other lures, making inline spinners is not only easy, but far cheaper than making something like a crankbait from scratch. The major advantage is you will have maximum flexibility and creativity in your designs. For example, I use a split ring to join the wire body to my hook instead of directly connecting it to wire body. It allows me to switch from treble to single hook when necessary (my state has laws on legal use of hook types based on body of water) and I can change the color of the tubing too. In addition, I think the use of the split ring also might make it harder for the fish to throw off the hook. Lastly, you’ll never ever have to worry about not being able to find them. ?

Shorter vs Longer rods sensitivity
There’s still a few days of winter. Let them enjoy the reminder of the winter blues, lol. I was. @Deephaven and @fissure_man thanks for the physics discussion. I Haven’t seen such math in probably over 20 some years but just following along brought much of it back quickly. I love the beauty of F=ma. ?

Will a tiny knot going the rod guides eventually break my guides?
Capital N and Capital O. ?

Zara spook line
I prefer mono for top water, but braid is not a bad choice at all.

1st time fishing, 1st cast...
That is awesome. Same thing with my daughter. First cast first fish. Gotta love it.

Unexpected thing I learned on this forum. Reels.
Oh boy. I felt a disturbance in the dark side of the force, lol. Some of those JDM reel look so amazing, simply a beautiful combination of function and form.

Good rod type for learning bait casting reel?
I think you are better off perfecting your casting mechanics. If done correctly, even a super hard cast will not cause an overrun if the mechanics of the cast are correct. what do I mean by correct? This means properly using your rod and reels as the tools they are. The weight of your lure must “load” the rod during the cast. This “loading” is simply allowing the weight of the lure to pull the rod tip back and allowing the rod the “throw” or catapult the lure forward. folks coming from a spinning background can sometimes have trouble with this because with a spinning setups, there is little consequence for poor mechanics (the consequence is poor casting distance), ie, no overrun penalty. changing the reel won’t fix the problem of poor mechanics too much.

Too Heavy Line for a small jig?
Smaller hook doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to be weak and get bent out of shape. The gauge of the wire is more indicative. However, as @Michigandermentioned, a properly set drag pretty much makes your concern null and moot.

It’s been 23 years...
Excellent report and congrats!!! You wrote so well that I felt I was there in the boat. H-E double hockey sticks, I could have handed you the net, lol.

Most versatile rod length?
If we mean versatile for “all” conditions, then I would say 6’6” to give you a chance in close quarters when room is tight or a dock rail is in the way and you’re trying to underhand cast (essentially a pitch) or trying to work a jerk bait. A 6’6” rod to me just feels nicer in hand for jerk baits when working the rod to impart life but I won’t hesitate to use a longer rod. I like personally 7’ but any rod in my hand is better than none. ?

Has Anybody Used One of These for Knot Tying?
No doubt. I remember when i first heard about the fg knot. As soon as I saw what was entailed, I was like, forget that, lol.

Do those Polar sunglasses really let you see under water?
Oh yeah? I drove all the way back home to get mine, lol. Yep, you’re right. There is no going back. I hate it when I truly forget them at home or in the car when I’m already where I wanted to fish. As mentioned, they aren’t X-ray glasses but when they cut the glare from the water’s surface it’s much easier and better for your eyes.

Never taken a jig bass. Sad but true.
I say this just to rib you but stop you’re whining, lol. I say this because until you’ve been in my shoes, you’ll gain a whole new perspective. So you’ve gone a whole year and never ever caught a bass on a jig. I have gone 16 years this year and have never ever caught a bass on a bass jig (pig). I think this is a world record. I am not proud of it but it’s true. jig and plastic like a worm? Yes! But not the traditional rubber/silicone that we all call the the bass jig. So I know what you’re going through. Trust. What I have learned is the bass in the lakes I fish don’t care for the jig and pig, not matter how many times I’ve tried. I don’t worry about it anymore, that’s for sure because they seem more willing to bite other lures. The drop shot, a senko, and in-line spinner, a crankbait, a rattle trap, whatever else. I just stopped fighting it and learned to give them what they want instead of trying to catch them on what I want to catch them with. Major difference. Huge difference, even if it means eating humble and hurting my pride, lol. Therefore, you have 15 years to go jigless before can say you have a right to whine like I do, lol. Hang in there, it will eventually happen. Even for me, lol. ??

Duo lock
Not in my experience as long as it is an appropriate size. They can also be used on Zara spooks to make them easier to “walk.”

Does anyone here share my dilemma of treble hook lures?
If you’re afraid of them, replace them with single hooks, lol. Those baits should still work.
-
Why Anti Reverse
Ha! I used to do that, lol. When that happens now I just pull off line or perform what I call an “open bail drop,” when the lure is light enough and I’m going to pitch.

Made some feather jigs. Will they catch fish?
In the words of Doug Marcaida, “Those will keeeel!”

The California Delta is..well something is happening.
Nice! But not fair. Snow and ice and currently 25 F as I type this ??

You ever just undress and dive for your lost lure?
It’s going to take a lot more than that for me to not recover my $8 rapala floating minnow. Leave no lure behind. ?

What ruins a fishing trip for you more than anything?
I forgot to include in my previous post that one of the worst things for me is forgetting my fishing license. It usually happens when I switch cars with the Mrs. also, some lakes in my area require a permit to park which is kept in my car. So forgetting that doesn’t suck as bad but it means I have to change the place i fish. ?
