  1. No not a real bass boat but a start. I bought an inflatable boat last night at Cabela's, so I can finally get off the shore. ;D ;D.
  2. power braided line or mono?
  3. Thanks Will. How do you work it then? Do you just leave it still under the bobber, or what kind of action to you apply?
  4. What is the jig and bobber technique? I joined BASS a few weeks ago but haven't received any magazines or anything yet.
  5. Sorry, I was thinking about the Madison model. :-[
  6. i was looking at the trout unlimited colorado, but it doesn't have the option of a T/M, or maybe i just missing it.
  7. I was looking into the pontoons as well, but i have what may seem to be stupid a stupid question. Do the pontoons deflate or are they sold material? I have a 4 door sedan vehicle and transportability is a very big issue. I also fish by myself so weight is also a problem.
  8. I'm with the rest of you, strictly a shore fisherman, although , I am planning on joining a fishing club, so hopefully I will get to do some boat fishing soon.
  9. There was another post here a few days/weeks ago that addressed the problem of gut hooking. It was a technique to remover the deep hook with little or no damage to the fish. I would post the link but I am a little busy at work and don't have the time to do a search, sorry.
  10. Honestly, I can see me never using more than the 1st or 2nd speed on the motor. I basically want to use it to from drifting, I fish on small county lakes, 20-30 acres at most. It is a 30 lb thrust Minn Kota.
  11. I am getting an inflatable boat and I am going to put a 12 volt trolling motor on it, so I don't have to row, row, row my boat ;D. My question is how long will the charge last on a 12 volt battery? Do I need to get two for a day of fishing or will one last all day? I know it has a lot to do with how much I use it during the day, but all I am asking is in general should it last for 4-6 hours on the water?
  12. I have thought about a used jon boat or something, but I am extremely limited on storage space plus I have no way to transport a boat, no hitch my car wouldn't like me much to haul around a boat. I figure with the inflatable, I can leave it all in my trunk and have it pretty much when i want it, without it taking up much space.
  13. Sorry got a little quick on the post button. :-[ I live in Olathe, and just started fishing again after several years, but i am jumping head first so to speak. I just asked this question in the tournament forum this morning, i was interested in getting into tournament fishing but i have no boat. Give me some details on the club, if you don't mind.
  14. Bass Pro Shops has one called a Fish Hunter 250. It says it can handle up to 2 HP motor. Thanks for the info on the weedguard, i would have never thought about that.
  15. Being that I don't have the resources to buy a real bass boat, and the fact that I fish small county lakes, I am thinking about getting an inflatable boat that has a motor mount on it. I plan on getting a pretty decent boat and putting a sheet of plywood in the bottom to give it more stability and to be able to stand up or put a chair down. Initially i am going to be restricted to using oars to get around but eventually, I will get a small trolling motor. Has anyone else done something like this or am I the only one who can't afford a boat who wants to get to better fishing spots?
  16. Thanks to everyone for the input. I think some practice is in order, but I also think that I am leaning toward using my baitcast set up more as well, and keeping the spinning set up for really light stuff, like grubs and such or when fishing with out a lot of surface cover, like exposed trees.
  17. Another question that I don't know if it is just lack of experience or what, but I have a really hard time with my accuracy with a spinning reel, but it is pretty good with a baitcaster. Is this normal or do I just need more practice?
  18. KU, another question, is this possible from the bank, No access to a boat And where is Kill Creek?
  19. Being really new at fishing, what water temp does the spawn usually start at? I live in Olathe, Kanas and usually fish the city and county lakes (Heritage, Shawnee Mission Park and Cedar Lake). The last reports I have seen the water temps are between 57 and 62 degrees.
  20. thanks, that would be much cheaper replacing hooks as opposed to the entire lure.
  21. Most of my hang ups are generally out of reach of the pole type retreiver. How would i go about making one?
  22. I do all of my fishing from the bank and I seem to be getting hung up alot with crankbaits and spinners, thus becoming very expensive. I have seen lure retrievers on several websites, but I assume that like most things, they are primarily suited for boat fishing and not bank fishing. Am I correct or will they work from the bank as well?
