Strange question
I am thinking about getting a real boat in the future, but I have a quick question. I usually fish by myself, are there trick to loading/unloading a boat by yourself without the boat floating away?

Costsa Del Mars
I agree with KU on this one, I found a pair of Costas that i thought i loved on the internet, when I tried them on at Cabelas, I hated them and actually bought a pair that I really didn't like when I saw them on the internet.

Bassmaster University ?
CGS2004, I am glad you posted this about the one at JCCC, i missed seeing it when i looked at the list this morning, I was planning on going to the Basic class in Novemeber, but I may change that and go to the one in Feb with KVD and Ike. I am pretty new at fishing but I feel like I have a preety decent handle on the basics, so I am hoping the Intermediate one is not too much over my head.

Stupid question possibly
Thanks everyone. I have been using Strike Kings floating finesse worms with a 1/4 ouz wieght on a 2/0 Gammy hook, tied to 4lb Zuri hybrid. From the sounds of it, I am fishing it correctly, guess I am just not finding any fish.

carolina rig bite
I used to fish it with the pre rigged weights, but no I use a 1/2 oz brass weight, two beads and a 1/2 oz snag free lindy weight, so the line should be free to slide> Lately anytime I feel the extra pressure i set the hook with a sweeping motion to the side, but it always has seemed to be the weight getting slightly hung up on the bottom. I guess I am just getting frustrated by not catching anything on this rig.

Stupid question possibly
How to you fish a finesse worm? Do you cast it out and let it set on the bottom then just twitch it back along the bottom, do you swim it back, or let it sit, raise the rod and let it fall again. I am a self proclaimed power angler, give me a crank bait, jerk bait or spinnerbait and I am very comfortable, but I am trying to learn the patience for finesse fishing but without really knowing how to present it, I feel like I am just practicing casting.

carolina rig bite
What does it feel like? I am trying to learn this rig but either i am not working it right or i am just not feeling the bite. I have read the C-rig post but not much said about what the bite actually feels like. Please offer some advice before i just throw the towel in and not fish it anymore. :'(

what other sites do u recommend for...
The funny thing is, is that I am like you, a realitve newbie, and i have done searches for other sites and they all had forums or discussion boards, and when this same question is posted on those boards, the resounding answer is this site. I have seen several people ask this question on other sites and they responses are always a link to the articles and information areas of Bassresource.com Short answer, you found the best one out there. I have admit that i still check out the other boards but i have learned more from this one than all the others combined. The people and the knowledge the people here have and are willing to share is second to none. The folks are the best, and Glenn does a great job of keeping it all in line.

Carolina Rig Tips Take II
Does any one use the Lindy weights for C-rigs? they are kind long ans skinny with a curve to them with rattles built in, they claim to be 95% snag free. If so how well to they work, I bought some this weekend but haven't had a chance to use them.

thermocline??
So basically if I am fishing lakes less than 20 ft deep there is probably little chance there is a thermocline to be concered with?
-
thermocline??
not really sure, would guess in the 20' range at the maximum.
-
thermocline??
I fish from the bank, but i have heard people say the thermocline in our area is about 2-3 feet deep, will the fish generally be right in the thermocline?
-
thermocline??
What is it and how do fish relate to it?

Is this a correct assumption
i went to the lake/pond this weekend and was there from about 6 to 10 and threw a buzbait for about 1hour or so and got absolutely nothing. tried throwing a spinnerbait since there were minnow jumping out of the water, but again nothing. Tried throwing a shallow crank, Senko, and c-rig but got tired of reeling in pounds of grass and moss. Unfortunately, the moss/grass at the lake i go to is basically forming a ring around the lake about 2-3 ft deep and 6-10 off the shoreline, so tring to keep the lure on the edge of the grassline is not really something that can be done.
-
Is this a correct assumption
The problem with the C-rigs is they always either get hung up in the grass/moss or they pick up so much of it that i couldn't tell if there is a fish on the line if my life depended on it.

Is this a correct assumption
Bass fishing in the summer time from the bank is not very easy or did i suddenly become really bad at fishing. Early summer I was doing pretty good, and then came the heat, and I maybe will catch one fish a day, if I'm lucky. I am basing this assumption on the fact that the fish will tend to move more to offshore, deeper structure that is very difficult if not impossible to get to from the shore. Also, it seems the lakes/ponds I fish all have what i call coontail moss growing about 3 feet deep and 6-10 ft off shore all the way around the lake, so fishing a crankbait or Rat L Trap is a pain in the butt, having to pick off moss every cast. I am beginning to think that I need to just go try to catch some bluegills until it cools off and the fish go into a fall pattern.

Anyone do this?
I am going out tonight after work until dark, and was thinking of taking my spinning gear, rigging it up with a nightcrawler and just let it set while I fish a C-rig or something else on another rod. I guess I am going through a "drought" so to speak, not catching much in this Kansas heat, so i thought maybe I could increase my chances by possibly catching some bluegill or crappie. Anyone else fish for crappie or bluegill while fishing for bass?

fishing seminars/classes
It looks as though they will be at JCCC again. Bassmaster University Basic Series Every angler needs a review of the fundamentals of fishing. This program gives you that opportunity and it's a great introduction course for those who are new to bass fishing. Topics covered will include tackle selection, knots, families of lures, basic electronics, seasonal patterns and more. Kansas Johnson County Community College Overland Park, Kansas Nov 3, Nov 10 & Nov 17, 2005 1-866-732-BASS (2277), toll-free 24/7 $99, ($74 spouses & kids under 16) Mark Menendez, Mike Auten Mike Webb

Bow and Arrow method
Lure retrievers don't work well from the shore though, do they?
-
Bow and Arrow method
Thanks for the replies, i just read about it on Mike Iaconnelli's website and was wondering. unfortunately, a lure retriever won't do me much good as I fish from the shore.
-
Bow and Arrow method
I have read a couple of times about a technique to free snagged crankbaits called the Bow and Arrow method, can anyone please explain how to do this as i seem to lose my fair share of cranks.

Weather Change questions
KCJeff I live in KC area also, going out today after work as long as there is no thunder/lightning. Don't really care if I catch a lot, it will just be nice to fish in something other than 100+ temps.

Got my boat
the trolling motor is the next purchase, maybe a b-day present or something. I think I want to put a piece of plywood down on the floor of the boat so i can stand up or atleast have a chair to sit above the water a little bit.
