Rage Tail Next Generation Products
Big O, Awesome product!!!!!!!! I first learned about these at a seminar in January by Kim Stricker where he had some video and samples of the shad. They looked pretty good so I promptly bought a package of the shad and frogs. Well they sat forgotten in my tackle box all summer until about a month ago. It was a rather slow day when I came accross them and decided to finally give them a try and wow was I surprised!!! I fished them around and on top of some lilly pads and have caught several nice bass already. I have always loved my buzzbaits and have caught some of my personal best bass on them but I can throw the Rage Tails in places I wouldn't dream of throwing a buzzbait. I may never throw a buzzbait again!!!! ;D Thanks for designing such an awesome product!!! I look forward to trying some of the new designs!!!

Preferred Braided Line
Power Pro on baitcasters and Stren Superbraid on spinning reels because I just think it's not quite as stiff and handles better on the spinning gear.

Quantum Accurist
I've had mine for three years with no problems at all!!!!

Blank Exposed Seat on Casting Rods - how important?
IMO it depends on the application. If you're using it for jigs or soft plastic more finesse type applications then I would say the exposed black reel seat is more important for better sensitivity. If it's being used for crankbaits, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits etc.... it's not as important.

Quantum Tout Edition TE1170PT
I have this reel and have been using 15# P-Line floroclear for lipless crankbaits. I've used this line for a few years and I like it alot. Pretty tough line and handles pretty well. I caught a 33" pike in about 15 ft of water the other day and the line came through great!!! A couple of nicks from those teeth but it handles it just fine. Oh, and the drag on the reel worked awesome on that fish, he made several runs and the drag was very smooth and strong!!!

Has anyone tried the Quantum Tour Edition PT?
I started out a few years ago with a switch to a Quantum Accurist then an Accurist PT and an Energy and an Energy PT and this year a Tour Edition PT. All very good reels all the PT reels are awesome especially the Tour. These reels are the reason my last 6 reels have NOT been Shimanos!!!!!

Does anyone use the radio on the water?
How about some Metalica!!!!!!!! That's how I usually catch alot of Rock Bass!! ;D ;D ;D

braid backing
To answer your question. Yes you can put enough mono backing on so you can spool two reels with one box of braid. I do it all the time!!! After you have retied lures enough times that you are getting down to the mono backing when you cast it's time to respool the braid. You can leave the same backing on just retie the new braid on.

Problem With Trolling Motor
I was thinking you could tell her that if you don't get a new one you could get stranded out on the lake. But if she's like my wife that might be more desireable than spending the money!!!! ;D ;D ;D

Anyone notice
Diawa, Sometimes this can be a pretty tough crowd, don't let all the nay sayers change your opinion. If your Shock is your favorite then good for you and no one else has to like it. Sometimes people have more money than sence!!!! It's not like it's golf or something important, it's only fishing!!!!!! ;D ;D

St.Croix Premier
I have five Premier rods, two of which I've had for twelve years and another for ten. I have never had any issue with the guides and these have been awesome reliable rods. I have purchased All Star and BPS rods since then because they were on sale but in the last two years I have gone back to St. Croix and purchased two more Premiers. I love them!!!!

a follow up to the grease on the brakes thread
Good point Bob! I'm still not to sure about this lubeing the brake drum thing :-/ Maybe it would be better to just use a Q-Tip with a drop of oil and run it around the drum a time or two. Mike You are correct Mike. Just a drop or two of oil not grease is what's recomended for lubing the centrifugal brake drum. Sometimes when these reels are new they have a coating of grease on that drum, I have heard for shipping puposes. I will clean out the grease and lightly oil that drum before use. Seems to work well for me. That wizzing noise on the cast is very inherant for reels with centrifugal brakes, especially Quantums because of the material used for the brakes themselves. If you watch the pro's you can hear KVD's and others reels make that same noise.

Opinions on Mercury Force motors
I had a 1995 40hp force on my previous boat and in the 12 years I had it the only work I had done was a new starter. Was running great when I sold it last year.

What are your fishing weaknesses?
Finesse fishing because of my lack of patience. Also deeper water fishing, I fish mostly in 15 feet or less. Being able to fish deeper would be a great asset.

Best Line for Froggin'
I too like the 50lb P-line braid or 50 lb Power Pro also.

Minn Kota Edge
bmadd, I have a Minn Kota Edge on my 17 1/2 glass boat. It's only a 40lb thrust because that's what came on the boat. I will probably upgrade a little but it's adequate for now. I've only had it for one season but the motor performed well overall. I would buy another.

Best $100 spinning rod
I have several St. Croix Premiers a couple of them I've had for 15 years and never have I had any problems with guide inserts or anything else. I have other rods in that price range too, All Star, BPS, Fenwick. All nice rods but I like the Premiers much better.
