It worked fine for me too. I was using 8lb test with the KVD conditioner though. The smaller test may have helped?

I've noticed they wont bite if they see you. This can be hard sometimes, but you have to sneak up on them and make long casts past their bed.

According to how much you wash, and at least every 6 months you should re-waterproof your jacket. You can buy spray on stuff, or stuff you wash it with. I use Revivex. It's just a water repellent.

I have a really nice Mountain Hardwear jacket. (Gore-Tex) Your'e never supposed to use detergent. Other than not using detergent washing directions are the same. (Tumble dry low etc...) You can buy waterproofing stuff at most outdoor stores. I can't really help you with the stains...

I use snap swivels on everthing but spinnerbaits. They don't affect the lure that much, but yes on some more than others.

I wouldn't. Although I have somewhat nicer rods and reels, I would never part with my UglyStick. I have the cheap $40 spinning combo, and you can't beat it for the money IMO.
