Heat Wave
We have set temperature records about 3 days straight here. (Just west of Winston Salem, NC.) I know how you feel. P.S. I have family and friends living at Wrightsville and Oak Island.

cleaning cork handles on rods?
Does the alcohol take off some kind of important finish? In other words, is it absolutely necessary to seal after you clean?

braid backing
I think 10-15 yards should be enough. Putting more braid allows you to keep fresh line on after knicks, frays and what not. If you are trying to save money electrical tape or sports tape works as well.

fishing in clear water ponds
Haha, that's not always a bad thing. A small lb. test flouro line or leader is always helpful in clear water.

Shimano Citica ---> Size of Rod?
Some people swear by the Curado and some say the Citica can compete just as well. Either way you can't go wrong.

Shimano Citica ---> Size of Rod?
Depends on what you'll be using it for. I feel like the rod is more important than the reel. I have mine on a 6' MF and have heard of people putting them on 7's.

Shimano Reel Rebate Back!!
I sent mine in about a month before it ended and I haven't seen squat! >

Short baitcasting rod.
I fish mostly ponds so I use short rods too. I have a 6' St. Croix Premier. From what I hear you'd be better off to go with the St. Croix Avid though.

Water and gas hybrid conversion kit for cars???
I think we could be friends. From what I hear Heineken would be too dark of a beer for me, but that's just what I hear. Heineken is not a dark beer. Heineken is a pilsner which is very light colored. Aside from the appearance the color of a beer has no bearing on its taste. Guiness is dark but smooth while a Belgian triple is light but very strong. Oh and beer in Europe is serious business Bud Light and that swill does not hold a candle to the beers of Europe. I do not consider myself to be a beer connoisseur. The $12.00 cases at local gas stations usually get the job done for me. The one time I had it, it tasted like molasses. That's just something I don't quite enjoy.

First to summer patterns...

Small Ponds
To be completely honest I have never fished a lake; I only fish ponds around my area. I will one day though. Also, I read somewhere that a good percentage of bigger bass are caught in ponds rather than lakes, so they work for me
