  1. I agree with the Lake Fork suggestions. I grew up living only 20min from Fork so I'm a little biased towards it but rightfully so. The lake just produces fish & big ones at that. The good thing is that you will catch fish at that time of the year, and you stand a real good chance of putting a DD in the boat. The bad thing is that the weather in East Texas at that time of the year is extremely fickle. The weather channels usually just put N/A for the following week in March because there is no way to know. ;D Also, like Bass_Fanatic said, the lake can get bad in a hurry. However if you don't mind that then Fork will probably reward you. I don't know of any all inclusive places to stay on the lake but I do know of a few nice cabins with nice amenities right on the lake. If you do chose to go to Fork & you want a guide you better book far in advance. Lake Fork guides go quick in the spring. If you have any ?'s on the area or just ?'s on the lake feel free to PM me. I'd be more then happy to help out in any way I can.
  2. WOW!!!! Fantastic fish. Big congrats.
  3. Good gosh those are some nice fish.
  4. Congrats Giants fans. Heck of a way to finish the year. The better team won. Hate to see my Rangers go down but I'm proud of the way they played this year. From never having won a playoff series to making it to the WS, they should hold their heads high. Congrats once again.
  5. Most people didn't. Other than local media the Giants got virtually no attention because they do not really have any super stars on their team. Other than Lincecum or maybe Posey no one else was really a household name before the playoffs. You never know where they are going to get you. Agreed. Although both teams didn't get ANY credit heading into the playoffs. The only reason the Rangers got more credit heading into the WS was because they tore through the almighty Yankees :. I knew it was going to be tough for the Rangers to win this series. 1st game the Giants just made fewer mistakes. The 2nd game the Giants flat out put a hurtin' on my Rangers. :'( I still think that the Rangers have a chance, but they sure have a lot of ground to make up against a hot Giants team.
  6. I actually got her at Lake Fork. To be honest i have yet to fish Ray Roberts in the 4yrs that I've lived up here. Always heard good things about it.
  7. I got the Rangers in 7. It's so nice to see someone other the Yankees & Phillies in the world series. (Sorry to those who are fans of those teams). I'm just so happy to see the Rangers there for the first time. Growing up I always cheered for them but never truly thought that they had a chance to go deep. Now that it's happened, I'm as happy as I can be. Great first game pitching matchup as well.
  8. Beautiful fish as usual. Nice job Dwight.
  9. ^ 24 to 1 sounded way too extreme to me so I did a little research to see if there was at least any info to back his statement and this is all I could find. http://www.thinklikeabass.com/july_bass_fishing_articles.html I'll go ahead & copy & past the important section. The first element we will talk about is FOOD. Contrary to popular belief, shad is NOT! the primary 1st choice of a bass. Although shad is a very common food for the bass as well as other natural baits, the number one food choice of a bass is a crawfish (also known as crayfish, crawdads, etc.). A study was performed several years ago where 100 Crawfish and 100 shad were in a tank of water with all species of bass (Smallmouth, Spotted, and Largemouth), and to much surprise the crawfish were eaten 8 to 2 over the shad. There are several reasons for this, but the most important one is that a crawfish is an easy prey for a bass to catch, and they are fairly easy for a bass to find. And once again contrary to popular belief, studies show that there are actually more crawfish found in vegetation areas than around rocky areas (or as some may know as Rip-Rap.) Definitely not 24 to 1 but the bass, in a controlled environment, sure preferred the crawfish.
  10. Great pictures. Sorry the day was cut short.
  11. X2 Exactly how I would have worded it.
  12. Last time I checked this was a fishing forum not English class or Grammar School... No need to kick a guy in the nutz for his spelling on the Internet without knowing his background or reasoning... Some one must have thought it (spelling) was important or they wouldn't have put a "check spelling" function on the site. Just saying...How can you ridicule someone for their spelling then follow up starting a sentence off with AND??? Although I usually don't pay attention to stupid arguments, this actually gave me a good chuckle. Back on subject, if you have the means to fish new areas then that would be the first thing that I would do. Second I would up-size my bait to maybe wean out some of the smaller bass.
  13. :D OOOP's indeed.
  14. Very cool photos.
  15. Well man I really hope you & your son have a great fishing trip. If you have any ?'s on the lake let me know.
  16. Man I know what that feels like but if you hang in there & keep trying you'll get it. My dad always said "if you aint getting hung, you aint bass fishing". Head up bud.
  17. Buzzbaits are one of my favorite fall lures. I fish them pretty much the same as I do in the summer. I do however fish shad colors almost exclusively during the fall.
  18. Awesome job. Big congrats.
  19. Well I got a day off from work today so I decided to head home to East Texas monday night & fish Lake Fork today (tuesday). Got out on the water at 6:45AM & it was beautiful. The morning started out in the low 50's, very foggy, & made it's way up to about 80-82 in the afternoon with blue bird skies. My first stop was a weed line that I love to fish (pic below) that drops off to about 12ft on the edge. I was able to pick the fist bass up with a yellow magic magnum on that weed line on my 4th cast. Got me thinking that I was going to be in for a great morning. Boy was I wrong. I just happened to cast that lure right in front of a young stupid bass ;D. For the next hour I worked that weed edge with every lure that I thought should have worked & didn't even get another bite. So I decided to move to another one of my spots & give it a try. I went a little ways back in Little Caney Creek to my second spot & was very disappointed in it's condition. First off I didn't mention that the Lake is way down, as to be expected at this time of the year, & I'm ok with that. But my spot was very stagnant and all the grass had already died. So I decided that I would try it a bit & move on. I was able to pull 1 small bass out with a hollow body swimbait. After seeing the condition that Caney was in I decided to head towards the dam & try & find some schools in the big water. BINGO. I was able to graph a few bait fish pods with some streaking fish below them. So I threw out my marker buoys & started with a DD22. I got hit on the first two casts but didn't keep them on & by my third cast they had all moved to the surface & were feeding. I dropped that rod & picked up my hollow body swimbait & caught 4 on 4 casts. This went on for the next 1 1/2 - 2 hrs. I would catch them up top with the swimbait then when they moved back down I would pick up the DD22 & pull in a few more that way. All in all I caught over 30 bass today all from 1 1/2lbs - 3 1/2lbs. I go to Fork for size but I'm certainly not going to complain with the numbers I got today. An absolute blast.
  20. Congrats. Great looking catch.
  21. Beautiful fish. Nice job.
  22. I agree with all the above with the addition of buzzbaits. Always done real good with them in the fall.
  23. Congrats bud. Always great to push that PB up a little more. Great looking bass.
  24. Nice catch for sure. Sounds like it was a fun fight as well.
