  4. I should have known that you'd get me for that list, Catt ;D. Do yall remember that quote from Pirates of the Caribean (horribly misspelled that lol). "The code is more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules". Those colors have been proven to work consistently under those circumstancesbut Of course if they don't work then you should try something else.We all agree on that. I think that Coldwaterbassin brought up a good topic. His philsophy or approach has alot to do with what is important to him in a days fishing. As does everyone else. but I think that we all differ in this category. So the next question would be what is your fishing philosophy and how does color or everything for that matter else play into approach?
  5. Water Clarity is the key my friend. You want the fish to be able to see it but not be able to differentiate the lure from what you want him to believe that it is. Imagine that you are looking at your TV. Lets assume that you need glasses to see but don't have your glasses or that someone hit you in the nose. OK so you can't nothing but a blur. So you're trying to watch TV but because you don't have your glasses you can't tell the difference between Lucy Lui and Josh Harnett ( I'm watching Lucky #Slevin ) Thats the effect the dirty water has on bass. They can't tell the difference between a lure and the real deal easily. When you put your glasses back on everything is clear and Lucy Lui is definately not Josh. Now in bass terms that means as the water clears he/she will have a much easier time seeing the difference between your lure and the real deal. So what do you do? fish with natural lure and sizes. Now let's put that in simple terms. Muddy water- Black, Purples, Browns stained- Pumpkin, amber, black and blue, and char. on anything Clear- ok, you had better match the hatch to be honest. study your local forage and match them. Sun Light allows the fish to see better and lack of diminishes visibility Hope that helps some, Mottfia

  10. I've gotten pretty fired up listening to the IPOD. Its saved some tough days of fun fishing. I focus much better with music playing but thats just me. I'm against it on tournament days when i need my ears to hear for a splash of a fish or bird, squirrels, frogs or anything moving about.

  20. I love these types of topics. a lot of fun and a little braggin. My dad and I were prefishing a tournament on the Alabama River. I'm doing my normal thing, pitching a jig at everything known to man. I don't think I knew that I was allowed to tie anything else on at the time. I was a youngin back then lol. well I drop the jig in a tree and the line slams down. I set back and nothing moves...cept me. The fish goes down through the tree and turns up, boils on top, and back down....6lb Alabama Spot. I'm freakin about at this point and pulling as hard as I can. That turd of a fish decides it would be fun to play with me and wraps itself up in the tree. for a minute I'm just holding the line tight thinking about the fish I just lost. I'm pretty devastated at this time. Daddy goes to move the boat to the tree when she made a mistake. She comes shooting out of the tree. I bow up, pull as hard as I can, and lead her to the open water side of the boat. Money! she makes a few more strong runs before she is in my hands. She was a beauty. Never got a picture because we always forget the camera in the truck. We smiled and laughed and set her free. Great fish.
  21. I'm with Mike on this one. Here in Central Alabama, we target spots more often than not. Finding information about these fish on the net is easier said than done. We should have something about spots so that the guys that must target them won't be left out in the cold. Plus a 6 lb spot knocks the rim off the truck when compared to 12lb head.
  22. Sup Troy U here. We'll be at the Southern Collegiate Championship and one of the FLW tournaments at Gville. Might even get crazy and go to Wheeler. lol Really looking forward to getting brutalized by those Smallies
  23. We'll see ya there. Are yall putting in at the launch site or else where? Mott
