Scorpion XT 1501-7 VS Curado E7
I could be wrong but my understanding the scorpion has the japan market breaking system. The Curado is set up to be saltwater rated. Other than that they are the same reels.

2 curado 200e7 vs 1 core 50mg
I can't say that. The Core 50 is just too small to be comfortable in my hands. I love my Curados. I'd take the two.

Texas rig weight question
I try using the lightest possible and still have contact with the worm. couple of my favorite pond rigs are 4" and 7" Powerworms on 1/64 and 1/32 oz weights. Throw these on med ex fast spinning gear with 10lb line. Puts a hurt on the fish.

favorite fishing show
Anything But..... 1)Bill Dance 2) Roland Martin 3) Jimmy Houston They had their day. But LORD! Retire. Bill Dance fishing a private stocked pond every week yanking big bass is not informative. Roland. SON! Pour Jimmy laughing like he lost his mind while kissing fish. NO!! I like the Bass Pro's and The Hunt for Big Fish. Good pointers and information from basics to completely out of the box.

Yellow Braid?
Was going to try some myself for the same reasons. I like watching the line. Confidence thing if nothing else. Just hard to find local without ordering. Plenty of Green though. ;D

G.Loomis rod for $100
Gary get to join the ranks of Name Whores. You got the GLoomis that he started and sold to Shimano. You got the North Fork Composites. Blank company that he has started. Now you have the TFO Gary Loomis Designed Rods. Guess he joins Bill Dance, Lefty Kreh, KVD, and a list of others capitalizing on the name. I Don't blame him. Wouldn't buy a rod because it has some guys name on it anyway. Has to be what I want.

Shimano Rod Warranty Without Sales Receipt?

New Rod....Bad Bait Monkey...
;D Just got a new Shimano Cumara CUC63H. Put a Curado 200E7 on it. Man I love it. Thinking larger spinnerbaits and topwater. May take it this weekend for some Hybrid Stripers. That is the second rod in a month. The Bait monkey says I need a 2500 Ci4 too. Bad monkey.

Magic eraser cork cleaner.
I hate it. Wife saw the clean rods and started asking questions about my NEW rods. Bad. But seriously works GREAT!!

PowerPro sizing.
The reason I want to use the 1000 and not a bigger reel is weight. The TN Grip rod looses the weight of the reel seat. I felt both TN andFuji seated rods, and the TN grip is noticably lighter. That with the 1000 reel will put it in the range of the Curado combo I have. I want to use the 20/6 PowerPro just for pulling smallies in current and heavy weeds in the summer.

PowerPro sizing.
K. I fixed it. 20/6 Powerpro on a shimano 1000? Use? Like?

PowerPro sizing.
Just got a Shimano Crucial with the TN handle. Med EX Fast that I plan on smallie fishing with. I got to thinking that A 1000 size reel would be awsome on this as the rod weights nothing. Shimano says the 20 lb PP on the 1000 reel...Anybody using this combo?? Thinking this combo would play hell on smallies this spring. Anyone using 20/6 PowerPro on a 1000 reel?

Laser lure
Ike has a video on his site about Guntersville. Says he pulled 100lbs on the laser lure in the tourney.

KVD Rod Setup in Classic
All bashing aside. I have an original Quantum QMD10 that fishes to this day, so I know they are not all junk. I just got an Xtralite XPS00. After disassembling and cleaning it works great. Solid reel.

KVD Rod Setup in Classic
KVD is KVD. The guy is a fishing machine. He used what fit him for the technique at the clasic. Albeit a rod and reel made for him. But when you are that good...... FWIW KVD had a $250+ Baitcaster with his name on it. Jeff Kriet I believe was throwing a Curado E7. I didnt see a reel sponsor for him. : I was wrong. Looking at photos it was Faircloth with the Curado. Kriet had the Revo looking reel. Point is Sponsor money dictates alot of what those guys will throw.

decisions on ultralight set up
you need to define what you are calling UL. If you are looking for a strickly bass set up a Light rod may be what you need. And for bass the action of the rod needs to be fast. Ultra light for me is a Shimano Symetre 500 reel and St. Croix 5' UL moderate action rod. The reel is spooled with a max of 4lb line. I have a Light rod that is a Symetre 1000 and st croix 6' light rod spooled with 4- 8 mono or braid. This is what I use for UL Bass fishing.

Topwater Rods??
Everytime I see a "Topwater" Rod its Fast or Xtra fast action. I am serious thinking a moderate rod might be better for the keeping the fish on rather than pulling free. I find myself loosing the drag and fighting the fish with that rather than the rod. Trying to lip a 7 lb smallie with a mouth of trebles when it pulls loose is not fun. Anybody else gone to a Moderate action rod?

Short baitcaster setup
Not that particular combo but a "short" psitol grip rod like that is the weapon of choice for many when walking a spook type bait. Also very good when target casting close with a spinner bait. Wasn't that long ago that the shorter rods were the norm. There are good reason for that. Most fishing was a target game. Accuracy mattered. Not how far you could cast. But can you put it where you need too. These rods did just that.

Favorite line for spinning reels??
I'll throw out another for Magnathin. I use the 4 and 6 lb. clear. Been using it for years.

UPDATE* E7 let down
The brakes need to be balanced. Make sure you have the correct brakes in to. I got a set of Pinks in. I also did the clean on the Shimano maint. video. for the spool and spool bearings. What line do you have on the reel and what distance are you casting? I'd imagine you should get some distance with the 1/2oz lure. I get a cast better with the Curado with the same 10lb mono vs. a 2000 or 4000 spinning set up. All casting a weightless fluke.

flippin us reel supercaster?
If I'm not mistaken the Castic thumbar is two way: mash down and you get free spool and push forward and the reel engages. What you discribe is the flipping switch set up on morst other reels. When the Flipping switch is on, simply mashing the thumbar engages and disengages the reel. I think idea reel would have a heavy set of gears, solid construction, and a HEAVY drag. Most flipping is done with heavy line be it mono or braid. I use 50 lb braid. And the drag locked down. For shimano: If you could cross the old Brushbuster with a smaller Curado. You would have it. If I were buying I would look hard at a Revo. Gears, Solid, and Drag.
