Japanese Bass fishing techniques
Read the Article in FLW mag a couple years ago when I was getting an oil change at Walmart one morning. Neat idea on the setup. Don't know if I "Need" one though.

Sh. Sahara vs. Stradic ???
I went with the Symetre over the other two. I passed on the Stradic becase I don't like the screw in handle. Always seem to knock those loose. I like the symetre a little better than the Sahara. That said I have 4 Symetres. All the FJ and they get used. Clean and lube and your fine. I have a 1000FJ that has been used like a rented mule and still smooth. And Francho.....That rockbass is a redeye around here.

ardent flipin pitch reel
If you are flippin' It looks like the perfect reel. Spool on 50lb plus braid and the monster drag would take a big fish to slip it.

I hate Christmas sales.
BPS has online deals. The JM Baitcaster for $80. Found new Citica's for $99. And several others. Really hate sales on tackle at Christmas.

I hate Christmas sales.
Got a rainy day off and looking on the net. Lots of GREAT deals. I am trying to resist buying. Really hate these Christmas sales. ;D

Wow. New low in customer service.
: No, not really. Go back to my orginal post. What I was Bitchin about was that they want $37 to fix a reel from a $24 combo. Or $7 to return it. That I thought was dumb.
-
Please help me find a reel....
I think you answered your own question. Just get a Baitrunner and and be done.

Wow. New low in customer service.
Yep. I sent in a reel. I got a letter back wanting more to repair said reel than I could go buy said reel and another rod for. There is something Fishy? >
-
Will BPS accept this?
At worst and they say no. Sell it here and then go from there.

WalMart $1 Spinnerbaits - Anybody Use 'Em?
The cheap Strike kings at Dick's had a ball bearing swivel and were a little more, around $3. The walmarts used to be Strike Kings. Don't even think there is a brand affilation now. May be the same plant making them. Cheaper components for sure. But last spring. I got several at their clearance price of 50 cents. ;D

Wow. New low in customer service.
Wasn't that I was ticked about a $24 combo reel breaking. Go throught that in lures in a trip. The fact they wanted more to fix the reel (half again) than the combo cost. Would be like buying a $300 combo having the reel break and being asked $450 to fix the reel for ya. Like I said. Money will be well spent elsewhere.

Wow. New low in customer service.
It has to work, before they will take it. Just was sharing what I thought was funny. Like SeanW said, "Outrageous..." Oh well. Spend my money elsewhere.

Wow. New low in customer service.
Recently bought a Quantum Xtralite Combo at a local store for around $24. Really wanted the rod for a different reel. Figured what the heck. Well something in the reel broke. No biggie. I box it up put in a discript of what is wrong and mail it in. Well I got a letter back form them. They want $37 to fix it or $7 to return it. Considering I paid $24 for the reel and a rod. I dont think they will get anymore money. Actually gonna take two other Quantums to the BPS spring trade in now for sure. 8-) I got a couple of rods that may get gone too. As for buying anymore. > Nope. FWIW, I still have an original QMD10 and my granddads 33 that I will keep. Both still work like they did from day one.

Commercial Balsa Cranks?
I still got a box of Bagley's. Off topic but read a thing last night on the Bagley being sold in Japan. Also said the DB 3 mag was made for shore fishing in japan.

Did you ever buy a lure/lures that just didn't catch anything???
I lot of mine have been the hokey stuff. I noticed long ago that alot of it had Bill Dance marketing it. Some of the stuff he has pushed in the last few years. Eels and Craw's. The Strike King Frogs. A spence scout. Never caught anything on some Roland Martin Big Bass spinner baits either. Funny thing on that is the Big Crappie Spinner Baits are still one of my favorite stream smallie lures.

Technique specific
I'll give ya one I like the looks of and it's a little cheaper. Take a look at a Abu Orra and a Verdict. I also like the looks of another Curado E7 and another Cumara. Really liking both of these.
-
Uses for Cumara's 6'3H Fast / 7'11" MH ExFast??
I have the 6'3" Heavy. I tried to sell mine and now glad I kept it. I got it for big spinnerbaits in tight cover. And Topwaters in weeds. Weights nothing, but has the power to do whatever. I have a Curado E7 on mine. That is a Heck of a Steal.

ultra light gear for trout
I guess I'm Blessed. I live about 5 minutes from one of the best trout tailwaters, South Holston Dam. I get to hit it about twice a week year round. I like using the flyrod there, but to consistantly take good fish under any conditions it is hard to beat a spinning rig. I have several. Couple of my favorites: 1) Shimano Symetre 500 and St Croix Triumph 5' UL. I use this one for smaller lures and when throwing bait. If I got a penny a fish this rod has paid for all my tackle. 2) Shimano Symetre 1000 and a 6' Berkley Trout tactix. I have been using this one this fall for throwing some larger lures (#9 rapalas and #2 spinners) for the browns. The main reason I like is the short handle on rod. It helps working lures while wearing a vest.

Hi- seas fishing line?
Bill Dance is. Can't say anything about it myself.

Abu Orra Reels.
Went reel shopping again today. Looked at the Abu Orra. Thinking this may be my next reel. Anybody using one. Pro's and Con's. Looked at the 7:1 ratio.

St Croix graphite?
I know this has been here before but I can't find it. How does St Croix's graphite compare to the IM-? on other rods? Looking for a comparison on SCII, SCIII, IM-6, IM-7 and so on.
-
2pc rod into a 1pc
I have a few light outfits I use for smallies. Love my light outfits. But for wading and throwing that size bait I like a med Baitcaster. Personal preference. I have a Light St croix Triumph that you might find on sale. I know Dick's runs sales time to time on them and has coupons too.

Poll: Rod Sensitivity Casting vs. Spinning
Oh well. Fish what you like. : But every component makes a difference.

Poll: Rod Sensitivity Casting vs. Spinning
Exactly my point.
